  1. Ayy so I'm active and committed again. I had spent the last month or so basically depressed about being housebound with my broken leg, and honestly just didn't feel in the mood to play.

    BUT...

    AFTER THIS TERRIBLE FUCKING WEEK...

I've finally realized how silly I was being. Basically, I sprained my only functioning ankle and have been stuck in bed, barely able to move. I couldn't even drag my chair ten feet with the sprained leg. I've been taunted by my computer across the room but couldn't get close without crawling on my hands and knees. Today I've been able to reasonably move again finally and am over any depression, one leg is a godsend. As for why I'm only posting now, I just woke up an hour ago...at 7 pm... I've been sleeping most of my days and am going to need to get over that, but I'm back and feeling way better. Expect 2014 activity I'm hyped.

  2. It's a meme app and I doubt he means it but still +1. fink has been around forever lurking forums, took a bit of a year+ hiatus, still cash money AF. I'm fairly sure you were member before, but if you weren't and this is half salty over making the requirements easier, then just know I love you and would have +1'd all along.

  3. Ratings are judgy and bad in general we should only have one rating, a gold star that says nice post.

But if we do have rude, bullying ratings, we should have the old ones, because they were funnier. The new ratings just look like normie emojis, I need my pixelated potleaf and runescape elf back, If I want emojis I'll go on twitter my dudes.

Real talk: The old, ugly ratings really added to the charm of xG, and made it feel unique. They were our special little inside jokes. I've honestly barely been rating posts since the change, there just isn't incentive and it's uninteresting.

  4. "TL;DR - Don't hand out promotions from Member to above-Moderator to those who consistently step down (due to lack of interest, etc) unless you want to make a change to how activity works. Otherwise, you're practically creating a new position for inactive Staff."

-@Forest (backspaced too far for formatting, too lazy to redo)

This thread has obviously moved past my mostly joking statement, so I just want to say that

    1. My vouch still stands for whichever position, mod/admin/no promotion(rekt boio) the higher ups decide most fit.

    2. My specific exit from DM was a situation whefe I was told by my DL that I was being demoted to admin, and since my activity issues and life stuff that made it hard to DM were still there, I just stepped down all the way. Not sure if this would affect my re-application differently than @Egossi 's situation, I just wanted to point out for the purpose of full disclosure that our situations were different.

    3. As to what forest said, I've long thought a separate admin-adjacent position (vote powers, though most that would qualify are uber donators so probably a non issue) for longtime staff that either step down/reapply alot, or might not be very active but are 100% trustworthy of the position. This position would be outside of the normal ladder and could only be added/removed/vouched for by Dm/DL/CM's. It would be harder to gain, with much laxer standards to maintain the position(besides abuse rules still applying equally obviously) just a thought, some variation could work.

  5. Ayyy +1 deserves it and will do a fine job, but real talk if Bach and I had to be mod when we reapplied (except that one really, really stupid time) you gotta be mod or I'm specifically going to whine to @Bello a moderate amount, and probably start conspiracy theories of flavoritism.

    Only half jk ;)

  6. +1 as elcark said, some maturity issues but nothing that would exempt him from membership. I doubt he'll be recieving staff anytime soon without some behavior improvements, but In my eyes he's more than active enough to be a member. With our old requirements I may have vouched neutral, but his activity and contributions to communication while online (though sometimes immature) in my eyes deserves membership more than a relative unknown in their first few days/weeks playing. Nothing against those people and they also deserve membership, I just think alot can be said about someone being as committed to coming back and being active as grotle is.

  7. People will not always support something you want to change. When you make a vote, you should expect it to be both approved and disapproved by many people. How you wrote out how people “act” on your suggestions is just immature and over-exaggerant.

From what I can tell he meant that people -1 on the basis that they don't think a thread to remove a map is valid because "not liking a map isn't a good enough reason to make a thread" (even though it totally is, it's still up to the community not whoever made the thread), not because of anything to do with the map itself. Which is pretty clearly happening. Septik nor I have a problem with people supporting the map and speaking their opinion on the map, what we have a problem with is saying valid reasonings for making thread aren't actually valid, which scares off people from making suggestions in the future.

    Atleast that's what I gathered.

  8. There are only two negatives i see. its too long and doesnt look nice, visuals only go down to a persons preference and i personally enjoy the mario visuals and the length can be fixed by playing fast classes or engi

The whole falling off the overworld killzone never being coded in? That rather seems like a mistake or design flaw no?

  9. I was making an example. He's saying that everyone in chat complains about 3d land when they switch to it, it's not different for any other map. Someone is always going to complain

True, but whether it's a large majority complaining, or a few people with a grudge is the question. If more than half want it gone, it should be gone. If a few want it gone, it won't pass the vote. That's how our system works. Saying dislike isn't a valid reason to make a poll is what I have a problem with. If we only have the oppurtunity to make threads about technically (code wise) flawed maps, that greatly lessens the communities ability to build the best server.

And I don't want to hate on our higher ups because I love the speedy responses and activity, I just want consistency.

But we've been adding maps that are suggested usually after just a higher up testing it. No community vote and no arbitrary two week wait. It shouldn't be easier to add a map than remove one. Either make both easy or both difficult.

But we're at a place right now where it's easier for a map to be added than removed, and that breeds lower quality maps in the rotation.

  10. lets remove clocktown then because people dont like it lmao that's not how it works buddy

That's still a perfectly valid reason to make a remove clocktown thread. It would get -1d to hell but you would have every right. The maps are negotiable, and the community decides them. That is how it works, buddy.
