    Metroid: Other M

Game Name: Metroid: Other M Platform: Nintendo Wii Time Spent: About 18-20 hours. I had one file where I first played the game and ended 100% in about 10-12 hours. I had a second file on hard mode which took about 8-9 hours Do you recommend? I would recommend this game if you can find it at a cheap price and own a Wii (cuz I mean who doesn't). What you rate the game: I give this game a 7.5/10 Initial Thoughts: First thing: Visuals. Holy crap the visuals and art work in this game are incredible for the Wii. I would never think this was a Wii game. Maybe think it was an Xbox 360 or PS3. One thing I was wierded out by was the first camera angles. They went really cinematic on the camera. It never got in the way and landscape would fade out if the player is in front of it, and I wish I saw that more in 3D platforms. Did I mention this is a 3D platformer? Well I think this is the first Metroid game that is a 3D platformer, and while a lot of people say it was too hard or they didn't get it right, I think they got it spot on (Ill get more into that later). My first thoughts when first going into the game were blown away and wish there were more games like this. Gameplay and Story: As I mentiod previously, this game is a 3D platformer. This is one of the best I've played. You run fast all the time and glide through platforming areas like a russian gymnast glazed in butter and wrapped in the smoothest of silk. While I do dislike the limited 8 directions of movement on the d-pad, it can be comfortable in combat. But there are a lot of straights and your thumb WILL get sore after a little bit and holding one direction. Speaking of combat, the combat in this game is fast paced but is a real blast when you get good at it. At the beginning, a scientist runs you through the basics of combat with holograms of Zebesians. He'll tell you about this quickdodge where you tap one direction at the right time just before you get hit to perform it. And if you hold the attack button and do the quickdodge then your beam will be charged up to the max. The charged beam does more damage than the regular beam. You later get a diffusion beam upgrade that when you use the charged beam, it scatters and hurts things around it, making it useful where there are a lot of enemies. But back to the tutorial. The scientist then tells you about this mechanic called overcharge. If you charge the beam and jump on an enemy, it will do a lot more damage. Next is the morph ball, one of the most iconic abilities. All he does is tell you about the bomb and power bomb and it is over. Lastly is the missle. Point the Wii Remote at the screen to enter a first person view where you can lock to things, enemies, or whatever. Similar to Goldeneye 007 on the N64. Also throught the game, you will find upgrades whether it be more missiles, more HP, or charging up faster. The HP and missiles are more important in the long run, so get as many or much as you can find. While playing the game, you would come to the point where you would need to hit enemied behind glass, so Adam tells you to use your plasma beam and you can kill stuff through glass from the point foreward. He will tell you to do this from time to time to keep it flowing. Like "Samus. Use your Speed Boosters to break that wall" or "I need you to get to the other side. Super Missiles now authorized for use". Now we can move onto the story. The story is a little deep, but not very long, hence the short playtime. You start off by receiving an unknown distress which she names "Baby's Cry". Bounty Hunter Samus Aran heads to the location known as the BOTTLE Ship. She meets Galactic Federation 07th Platoon lead by your old friend and commander, Adam Malkovich. This is the beginning part but I wouldn't want to spoil the ending and juicy parts... But I will anyways. Members of the platoon start dying randomly by someone the GF sent to silence everyone who has been on the ship. Also the BOTTLE Ship was a space station made for rebuilding habitats of other creatures, including Metroids. Samus made all of the Metroids extinct though by killing Mother Brain and destroying the Planet Zebes on her previous adventure. She still had residue from the last baby Metroid on her armor and the scientist from the tutorial harvested the residue and sent it to the BOTTLE Ship to regrow the Metroids in a controlled environment. So basically shit happened, they created a new mother brain in the form of an AI, called it MB, gave it a human body, then it took over the facility because it developed emotions and that can happen I guess. So blah blah blah she turns one of the Metroids into a Queen Metroid. Also you have to fight this thing later and if you don't know what you are doing have fun. One tip: they can be frozen. (Also I forgot to mention that when making the new Metroids the altered the genetic code of a lot of them to be resistant to cold which was their one weakness. Now you may be asking why you can freeze these. That answer is this Queen Metroid was a non-altered one so you can freeze these. They also needed a reason to give the name of the game Metroid so they added this random one as a plot device). So yeah back to the main story, Adam Malkovich detaches a sector of the ship that houses the area for Metroid breeding. But the way they made it detach from the ship was from the inside so they needed a reason to kill off a Dad character. So some more gubbins happen, you find out that this chick you met who called herself Madeline Bergman is actually MB, A.K.A. the one who started all of this. So you meet the real Madeline Bergman who tells you how MB was made and how herself is the lead director of the facility. So more gubbins happen, the GF show up, kill MB, and find out your friend Anthony who thought died earlier whilst fighting Ridley is not dead and escorts you out of the building. In the Epilogue of the game, the map shows you all the stuff you missed in the sectors so grab those and time for the final boss. His name is Phantoon and headly counts as a final boss. He looks like a giant space squid thing. So you kill him super easily, in like 3 minutes because his weak spot is always open. So then you go and find Adam's helmet, hear over the automated intercom that the ship has entered self-distruct and will blow in 5 minutes, in usual Metroid fasion. So you escape the ship with the helmet the end. Whew that sound like a handful. The story itself was in total, maybe 5 hours if you don't stop for upgrades. Really disappointed in the shortness of it. Still a good story nonetheless. But hey, Longer and more on depth the Breath of the Wild's main story. Pros: I really enjoyed what we had of the story. It provided a nice experience and flowed smoothly. It kept me engaged to find what happened next. I also liked the frequency of when you got access to your abilities. You get them when you need them and keep them to use elsewhere. And when you just think that it might be the extent of what you can have, you get more. One last thing I liked was the cute little rabbit thing that follows you around. It really adds charm to the creatures the inhabit the station. Cons: Like I said before, the story was way too short. They could've added another 1-2 hours based on the guy who started silencing Adam's platoon. There was some missed potential on a few different spots. A lot of the items/upgrades I had to look up how to get either because they didn't make sense or were too difficult to get to. Final Thoughts: At the end of the day, the game wasn't bad at all. The chracters had well, character. It added to the story in the fact that I felt something when they died. It also added another level of suspense like they could die any minute. A lot of things in this just happen out of knowhere and is exciting to see what would happen next. So now the question is if I would recommend this game. That answer is yes. I would also recommend 100% this one as well. It feels nice to have that 100% on the map screen. Have you played this game? Tell me what you think about it!

I do see your point and I agree with it, but we cannot enforce a rule like this. We had a rule like this a few months ago, but it was pretty much ignored by our staff, since there's no way staff can watch everyone 24/7 to monitor the way they're using sm_cptele, hence the rule was removed.

Just ignore those who keep bringing it up. I still get people who bring up old, stupid, and unneeded events that happened when I was staff. It's not funny and it's worse that people still are butt hurt about stuff that happened so long ago. Leave them to stew in their own shit. The community can be toxic, and I'm sure everyone is aware. Just play the game with the people that you enjoy playing the game with. As Shwoosh and Septik (Frick you still for taking Dirt Rally, Septik!! :rage: ) said, just gather evidence and report the dipshits that harass you. We're here to help. Not to put you down.

You did not have to make another thread. At this point you are going out of your way to seek attention. If people are actually harassing you, get proof, talk to a higher up, and stop making goodbye threads.

The power to make people be quiet so I dont have to listen to their twatting stories on how they got an unusual. But in all seriousness I would choose the ability to fly and breath in space. I would want to explore the universe as much as I can, and see what crazy stuff is out there. Ive always thought Astronomy would be my career path if music didn't work out for me.

    Cp Save/cp Tele On Surf

I personally feel that this plugin is too easily abused on surf maps with powerups, as it allows people to instantly teleport back to the powerup at any time, and not allow any other players to get it. On quite a few maps with powerups, such as surf_utopia and surf_tensile, in order to re-aquire the powerup after it expires, one would have to surf the whole map again, allowing other players a chance to obtain it. With the checkpoint plugin however, the person that first finished the map has a strangehold on the powerup, throwing off the intended balance of the map. I understand using it to get back to sniper boxes if you get killed at the end of the map, but I think there should be more restrictions on using it to hog powerups. I've also seen people troll with it, by continuously teleporting to the end of the map, attempting to kill everyone there, dying, then instantly zapping back after they respawn.

    Leaving For Good...

You would know of all people that the community can be toxic, any community can be toxic at times. I remember there's even been times where I would say to myself when you would speak "Wow he turned into a real dick." Anyway, here's your chat history: Ironic you throw "toxic" around. See you.

So, I read through the comments of my other thread and decided to just take a break from the server. I also realized that maybe some of my points for leaving are quite invalid and had the over use of the word "toxic" which was illogical. I do also admit that I am not the most perfect player and have made mistakes in the past, and got too confident and cocky because the social anonymity the internet offers which I am sure most people feel over any internet community, which of course isn't 100% true, as steam ID, sound of voice, and the way you talk, puts a permanent stain of how I am viewed on this server. The only thing I can do now is just take a break. I apologize for being rude towards some of the members and staff as they have actually tried to defend me in the past. I also, am sorry towards Vexx for not being as nice as I should be to him and hope you guys can forgive me for my mistakes. I may not be back for a month depending on the situation, but I am definitely taking a break. The Mahogany situation was put to rest almost year ago. That is enough time to forget about it and leave it in the past, people who dwell on it that long should really chill out. If you bring it up, I'm just going to ignore you since that's the best I can do.
