So just a quick introduction. I joined the xG community december 2010/jan 2011, was co-leader for about 2-3 years and then left due to disagreements towards my fellow higherups. You might know me by Link if not by Aegean. I had a very good history with this clan with exception to duplolas having powers, and then darkwolf having powers, cuz they were retards. Anyways. Why is xG not the same as it once was? It's easy to blame rhododendron/silence for alot of it, but that's not it. He might have caused some shit, but it's not him that's preventing xG to get back to its former glory. 1. It's the staff themselves. If you go back to 2011-2013, it wasn't silence alone that was keeping the servers populated and fun, it was the members. The biggest thing was the members who were keen on being staff, and once being promoted, having a positive influence. I remember when jailbreak and other servers had 5-6 + staff on all the time (except for the late night, where myself, cristo and other night owls would populate and play if we were bored) The biggest thing is the staff don't care anymore about bettering the server. You know what I don't see? Mods and Admins constantly asking higher up what they have to do to be promoted. It's true I'm not staff anymore so it might be behind the scenes now, but I remember how active staff were on forums, always asking members what they want from the server, and even people pming me and other higherups for an "operation populate (deathrun)" or w.e . The biggest thing is from talking to many members, and even staff themselves, promotions are much more skewed then they used to be. It's not so much how active you are or how good you are in server, it's more who your friends with, and who you talk to in teamspeak. 2. People don't care. Look at the forums. There are so many posts that are stickied but not updated, or stickied that should be removed. I made a post about what the different levels of staff do for this community, and what you can ask them for help with. As higherups, you need to be constantly looking to see what you can do to make this community better. If this isn't your goal while being a higher up, then you should step down or re-evaluate your position. You aren't higher-ups so you can abuse on TS or forums, and just be the shield for your friends when something gets called out against them. You are there to set an example, and make sure EVERYONE (this is key) has a great experience in the servers and community, and that they would want to join and even invite their friends into the clan. This also means that you can't bend rules to appeal to one group of people (example the furries or bronies who don't like being insulted) but then allow NSFW avatars that are actually against the rules because (that's just my opinion). You guys need to understand that you represent the community, as soon as people go "ouu i'm gonna go check out another community" you fucked up possibly many new recruits, ad sense, and donation money. 3. Everyone is segregated. Look at teamspeak and look at the ridiculous amount of black lists and passwords in the channels. A select few staff almost never go into a public channel, and that is also very upsetting to newer members who want to meet staff and others and want to play other games with other fellow clan members. I mentioned this a few times, but this is a ridiculous thing that I should be bringing up time and time again. Staff need to acknowledge the newer members, and play games with them or even create events. Before the Cozy boys (Billy, Trif, Rpgs, etc) and I quit, Rpgs had the idea of making a community night. Once a week, we choose a few servers, set up an event to all of xG (through the forums and steam group) and just spend a few hours with the community. Anyone is welcome to join, and just play some games that aren't populated as much. (xG Minigames for example) What does this do? 1. You introduce members to a new game mode that they potentially might like and come back often too, and 2. The members get to meet others (staff, members or just randoms) and get to have fun and feel like they really are in a community. You have nothing to lose from this, you lose 0 resources and you get the community involved; something this community hasn't really done in a long time. You can provide incentives to coming if you can, if not just have fun and play games. This can also prove valuable to members and staff who are looking to be promoted but are often unseen to the people that they need to be seen by. This will not return xG to it's former glory, but it's a start. Once the staff start acting like staff, and stop being spoiled brats who are power-happy at any slight discomfort, this community can lead to the right path back to competing to be one of the top gaming communities on steam. That's why mod applications were great before you had to donate to use one. It made your interest known without shoving it down people's throat. Also, EVERYONE was able to have a say. It would, for the most part, be decided by the community. Both times, my mod came from an application. Stating my interest, having people vote, and then getting it and doing my absolute best with it. And, yes I am still bitter about being demo'd for inactivity as I don't find that a good enough reason to be demo'd, especially when you are hurting for, in my opinion, good mods/admins.

I think I might add something, if you don't mind. "Old xG" did not NEARLY have this much drama and shi.t-posting. If you want it to go back, stop adding to the problem. Try adding to the SOLUTION for once, instead of standing around complaining.

The amount of unnecessary drama on these forums is cancerous. What makes it worse is when the higher ups are pressured to make decisions based on the given scenarios with little-to-no context, proof, or adequate communication with the parties involved. That's how people get demoted and that's what causes members to leave. I can't begin to tell you how close I have come to leaving this clan myself over the past week. The paramount levels of discontempt among our members physically makes me sick to my stomach. But, even though there are people I cannot stand in this community, even though there seems to be some big production every single week, even though something nearly drives me to leaving this group once and for all, I always remain resolute and stay. Why? Because I want to see this community grow. We have a LOT of potential to be a GREAT TF2 community. We really do. We have a LOT of resources available to us that are being squandered or misused, and I want to see the potential fully bloom. Our Unusual TF2 server is one of the best I have ever been in. All it needs is people to populate it and I can almost GUARANTEE that it will become a well-known place. Our Trade servers are fun, engaging, and exciting. All it needs are people to trade in them. Our Forums are an excellent tool for communication and discussion. All it needs is a bit of tidying up and for its members to work on their maturity levels a bit. xG has become my unofficial TF2 home. I couldn't leave this place if I wanted to. I've made some excellent friends, made excellent memories, and helped to make excellent servers. The only thing holding us back is our inherent inability to communicate and work with one another.

I shall clear some things up first. "I have decided I am leaving xG. There are a number of reasons I have to do this and none of them are any fault of mine. First of all the way the CLs handled the whole member protest problem was embarrassing and the final outcome even more so. Not entirely sure how it was embarrassing. What would have been embarrassing is if we had given bans based on evidence without checking further into things. It also would have been embarrassing for us to give a decision within minutes of the thread. We took our time to come to a conclusion that addressed a number of issues. Just because you put up a ban request doesn't mean we are going to ignore other sides of the situation. For example: If someone puts up a ban protest for someone mass freekilling, and we go through the evidence and find that someone was warden and told them to kill everyone, then we address all issues and two people get banned for different amounts and reasons. I will not accept my demotion for doing nothing wrong, I would love an example where I have abused my responsibility as a mod to warrant a demotion, can't find one? neither can I. You had admitted to retaliation. No matter what circumstances it is, harassment is harassment. You said they did it to you and that you did it back to them. You can't use someone elses actions as an excuse to act improperly. We have a responsibility to stop harassment against all members, not just one. You were not given a forum ban because of the much lesser extend to which you harassed others. There were other outlets you had to take care of the situation as well, which included contacted your DM or DL, or any CL who would have taken care of the situation. All the issue needed was an announcement from a CL to those involved to cease fighting or be punished but all we got were unnecessary demotions and bans which were lifted anyway so that makes it even more pointless! The issue did not need an announcement, especially since you made a big deal out of it. Had it "just needed an announcement" I would have thought you would have confronted us about it. CL's had no say in bans that were lifted, that was purely something that is in Silence's hands. I am not angry at any of those involved in the protest. I have made amends with the majority of those involved and there are no further issues. That is not the reason I am leaving. I am leaving because of the CLs and the way this clan is run (with the exception of Nomulous). I was so angry after I saw the outcome of the protest I was thinking of leaving right there and then but I kept going until the next promo demo as I heard the demotions were a temporary demotion and everyone will be re promoted next promo demo. This is not just me I feel unjustified for I also feel for Moosty. Yes he made that picture which was wrong but he apologised for it and he should not of been demoted either. Any demotion is a temporary demotion. Members that are truly "dedicated TF2 Div trade members" would not leave a clan. You can never expect to receive a promotion, especially when the same kind of behavior continues after the punishment in which you lost your powers. Everyone did get promoted the next promo demo though, but CL's turned down all but starmix; he has shown maturity and generally stayed out of most issues since the punishment which cannot be said for the rest and thus why they were all denied promotion. What baffles me is the only person who got demoted in the protest and got his powers back is StarmiX. This obviously points to favourism and I refuse to be in a community that favours some members above others. I don't even think i've met starmix. Don't assume when you don't know the truth. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think i've played or let alone held a conversation with any of you before this incident. Its hard for me to play favorites with someone i dont know. I was told by Hiding "you must earn your mod again" sorry but no. Yes. Nobody will ever get mod handed to them. There was nothing stopping you from receiving it again, and chances are you would have got it back next time. I already earned it and did a good job with it, you demoted me and Moosty without knowing how much effort we put in to the TF2 div trade servers. You're an idiot and how you are a CL baffles me. I cannot say one way or another about your mod performance, and i'm sure you earned it the first time. But, you actions, along with others, caused mod to be lost. I'm the furthest thing from an idiot, but thanks for insulting me (it reinforces our decision). I really don't appreciate you calling me an idiot, that can be considered verbal abuse and harassment if it continues. so well done CLs on this clan losing one of the most active, friendly and dedicated TF2 Div trade members. Give yourselves a pat on the back and maybe learn how to run a community properly because you are clueless, corrupt and idiotic from what I've seen. sup aegean, dead fuck I agree with pretty much all of this (mostly because i skimmed through it and didn't read all of it but got most of it) but one of the big reasons we don't have population is staff and members are lazy when it comes to populating. There are people who do try their hardest to get population and usually it does work (Phoenix, Haxx, myself, Saturday, DeathGod, Cookie, occasionally Tav, etc.) but there are people who don't seem to have the patience or dedication to keep the servers populated. Although I can't speak for the ever-growing TF2 div they seem to be doing a pretty good job of keeping it populated most of the time of the day. If, like Forest said we start getting on every night knowing that there will be at least some population it would start to bring in regulars that eventually turn into members and even staff. Also, as has been said before, staff members need to get along with each other. That's why @Legend stepped down, he hated some of the mods (mostly me, for god knows why). I know Papercreeper, for example, hates my guts. I have no idea why he does, but he needs to get over the fact that I'm probably not going away any time soon. May or may not edit to add more things as I think about them

Now that I'm home I can go into detail. This may make some of you think I'm being stupid, but I'm just being rational. Rabid is right in this case. Has rabid trolled before? Sure he has, but that doesn't make everything he does trolling. I, for one, will annoy someone in TS (@Bleed ), but that doesn't mean I will always join TS simply to annoy someone. Sometimes I simply want to hang out and play league, other times I have something in mind to talk about. That is all rabid is doing. He brought up a valid point that we have been completely ignoring, the teamspeak rules. According to the forums, those rules were made over a year ago (but i think it may have been more than that). What does that make them? Outdated. What must been done to solve the issue? Update the rules. Simple as that. How the rules are updated is a separate matter, but that is the best solution I see to this problem. Now that we know rabid is right, that's one problem taken care of. Being right does not give anyone the right to attack someone else in any form, as was seen on the last few threads. That goes to everyone, not just rabid, that includes hiding, that includes warrior, that includes anyone that posts on the forums. There is absolutely NO reason to be at each other's throats. Have a problem with someone in particular? Talk it over in private, don't make it everyone's problem.

@metalslug53 Although I generally agree with the "if you have to ask for a promotion, you don't deserve one" but lately I feel like many people are not getting promoted because they aren't heard, seen or friends with the right people. This is wrong but unfortunately this is how it is. I'm not saying the system was perfect when I was co-leader, but sometimes you do have to mention what you've done to imply that a promotion should be coming your way. I've said this before, i just wish the mods and admins would act like principals and not dictators. a principal calls you in to tell you what you did wrong and lets you off with a warning or detention. a dictator calls you in to tell you what you did wrong, then proceeds to make fun of you and pester you and gets the whole server to join along to pester this person. i understand that a person did something wrong, but don't go to far with it just tell them what they did wrong. it really turns people off when there are rude admins and mods, and go off and tell people why this server is bad thus not populating it. I agree with a lot but I'd like to point out this thread in reply to this comment: Staff roster, helpful notes, rules and other things | Xeno Gamers It's not perfect but there are a few of us working to make it, and the community, better. As you said, it doesn't help when there are those that -don't- care. But we are trying. It also doesn't help that in this thread: Cs:s Operation Revitalization | Xeno Gamers a good amount of the posts are "Why are you even trying? Give up." It's not from lack of trying that this happens. It's a lack of people willing to help it. The few that try get turned down.

Nigguh fug you, I never said I've actively populated recently; only that I support the idea of it along with providing ways in which to establish said population. Only time I did was about a week ago when it was absolutely empty and it was just me and @DeathGod, but he was being a scrub by not using his mic. Eventually got up to around 20+ people, it was a good time. If I had the free time, I would be on that shit like mold on a shower curtain, much like I was back in the day. Mind you, back in the day I was just finishing High School so I had a lot of free time. Unfortunately, after that, life became a bitch and my activity in xG suffered.

Like Aegean said, its up to members/mods/admins to populate the servers, you want people to join and donate, gotta give people a reason to be on your servers, Either it be good people/plugins you have to have population for it to matter.even at night on the css jb server pop was still decent till like 4am. Most of the mods for css now probly shouldn't have it, i got mod with an app that went over well and would have gotten admin i think a month later if i wasnt a cunt to Aegean, i EARNED my way and showed i could be trusted and did work to better the gameplay of the members and randoms alike.

I agree the idea that the members need to be involved. He'll even the staff need involved. You look at the revive css thread and you can say it's great some people still want Css around, but then complain about the cynical me saying it won't work. But go back nobody who posted in there has tried to start populating they only join after it is populated and are typically the first out or afk the whole time. Sorry if doesn't make sense. @Bleed is probably one of the best examples I can think of trying to improve xG with all the work he puts into bettering our servers (even if he won't tell me what exactly it is). I do want to say that I do want to go through all these old rules and stickied threads and update them (refer to my post on rabid's thread about hiding).

It's not like he can't access the server or something. Nom can still work on the servers and whatever; however, to test them, he would need an alt account that is not VAC banned. Also, hey. Not to be rude or anything of the sort, but if you re-apply, I swear on me mum I'll -1 . Countless times have Members acted out in frustration or anger by 'leaving' and then come back within a month to re-apply. It is not a justifiable reason that is worth re-accepting at all. Either choose to represent xG, or don't. Don't leave and then come back when you feel that it's okay to do so. This applies to anyone else with the same mindset btw, not you specifically.

The middleman for bills and below should be a trusted member/mod and up. Admins and higher should deal with spycrabs higher than a bills.
