More than 3.5 million Americans have been diagnosed with ASD and the number is believed to be much higher due to individuals who have closeted their disorder. The amount of people who suffer from ASD on Steam is staggering, and it is safe to say that we come in contact with some of these individuals online daily. Autism spectrum disorder more often than not leads to many separate diagnoses such as Anxiety, depression, and Agoraphobia. People who have been bullied due to their atypical behaviour begin to see themselves as lesser, worthless, and with a bleak future. ASD can also lead to dependency issues, which only amplifies these thoughts of self worthlessness, and in some cases these thoughts lead to self harm or even suicide. As a community service worker, I have seen this happen, it is heart breaking and it never gets easier. With all of this being said, why are we allowing people to use this serious disorder to be the butt of every joke? Yes it is a meme that is used often, but so are other slurs we find unacceptable. There will be people on the spectrum ok with these slurs, may even use them themselves as a joke, but this can be said about any slur. I have been receiving messages of people on the spectrum feeling isolated and outcasted to to these jokes and I believe that we must put a stop to it, for their sake and for future xG players.

Doesn't understand that if a staff tells you you are doing something wrong and should stop, that you probably should do so. He has been with us a while and honestly he has made very little improvement as far as maturity and realizing he isn't always 100% right. ^ You have a lot of work to do but if you can clean most/all of this up ill change my vote A:8 M:4.5

I dont disagree with you completely, but i think its different if youre just being addressed as autistic, rather than being called autistic while associating it with a stupid action or some other demeaning situation(i.e someone saying "Are you autistic or something?" when something dumb happens, directly associating autism with dumb stuff. It may not offend all, but it may offend some). I feel like banning the word shouldnt really be a thing, but it still shouldnt be used in a way to make fun of others(which might even go along with the whole "No Disrespect" rule, making a new rule pointless, as it already relates to another).

I'd have to agree with something like this, not just because I have a very close friend who has a form of autism. There's a number of people who have a form of it here and there and after being around someone with it for multiple years it can be a bit nerve wracking for one of them to speak up about how it bothers them when people sling it around. Speaking of my friend, he sometimes gets called it just because of a voice he can't control and it makes him just not want to speak sometimes along with the fact he can get very emotional; none of which is really his fault or controllable for him.

I don't ever remember having any sort of issue with any person either within the last 2 weeks. I've also never bought anyone but a close personal friend of mines premium which If I may clarify was more than over 3 years ago. Within that time and now I've never bought anyone premium so already your claim doesn't make any sense, as for everyone being upset with me I have no clue what you're talking about. I've been pretty chill with the server for a while and I've never done anything to actually provoke anyone on the server. Sure I trash talk every once in a while but who doesn't? I do it for fun and I don't even mean anything I say, why would I? Insults are just words after all, I don't need to slander anyone for any reason.

While I agree with this in every other case, in this specific case, it's a mental issue that effects their ability to be comfortable speaking up. I think this case, and only this case, should be considered unique.

I think wait until they get offended is less valid here then for other slurs, as people with autism generally don't feel comfortable speaking up.

this is an idea page, so im aware what i said was a long shot but I would like to hear other peoples ideas. The point of this thread was trying to find an easier way to get people to read the rules. When people join the server there is nothing telling them the rule. It gives players an add and then drops them into the game. So i get that they should type !motd and read the rule, but if staff members(or just members) are the only way new players can get the rules isn't a great idea and why i think so many people get banned for just being unaware of rules that you need special knowledge to get to.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Staff Submissions don't really require a certain amount of vouches. Vouches just count for how people feel about the OP and helps the higher ups decide if they want to accept the application or not

I could say "Fuck all of you." and mean that in the most sarcastic tone I have (without saying it), and it would still [most likely] be taken personally. That being said, @BullseyeX the reason that little outburst is relevant is because (at the time of the post) it was still there when this thread was made. Think of it this way: you wouldn't have something like that made publicly available if you wanted to demonstrate a professional demeanor, would you? Maybe it's no longer relevant and you no longer feel that way, but the fact of the matter is that it was still there which is why (correct me if I'm wrong) Snowy thought it should be brought to everyone's attention. Doesn't necessarily mean you still feel that way, but it is still very relevant (though personally not enough to justify a -1).

-1 I don't feel you have a fitting attitude for the title of a moderator from that comment alone. You seem hostile when someone brings up a past issue / comment / screenshot / anything that could be "bad" about you. Instead of being hostile, why not figure out more information about it, why said person brought it up (in a polite manor), or if they need more information on it.

You're more than welcome to come on our servers, you're not getting banned for anything. My suggestion, wait a little while then come back again, but this time bring some clarity and not lies. The lies are what's tripping us right now. And I know you love coming on and having fun, we're not going to stop you from having that. No one is asking you to leave, come back and make some friends and try again later. Most people applying for memberships are people who have spent majorities of their lives on these servers, spend some more time here before making such a rash decision.

I'll break down what you said as an example, but do know that careless if you THINK you can't show emotion through text, it doesn't mean others don't read it like that. I suppose it would be best for you to specify. #1: To me this comes off as defensive, as if you're against me. Not working with me to come to a common goal or solve a problem. #2: Another defensive fact, but with the question mark, to me it adds a fair amount of hostility, as if you're on the offensive, looking to shoot down the comment. I don't want you to think I nitpick everyone or even your responses, I just want to give you insight as to how it could be seen by others. Be careful

So if its being interpreted one or two times as you coming off as an ass it might be an excuse it but when you have constantly been argumentative, confrontational, and defensive its just your attitude thats the problem and not the way we interpret it. I do not think you are fit to be staff. I can only imagine the problems that would happen. There have already been issues with other staff with attitude problems getting staff and we've suffered the consequences because the inevitable shitstorm happened. There isn't a way I can see you getting mod anytime soon. It doesn't matter how well you know the rules. That is not the only thing that goes into being a staff member. This may come off as aggressive but you have been told numerous times about your attitude and it really hasn't changed that much and it doesn't seem like you are getting the message. People skills and attitude are 2 of the most important things to have in staff members and you lack in those two categories. I'm sorry but I don't feel comfortable giving a very short fuse powers.
