TF2 xG was better in 2016 IMO. Just a bit more laid back, it was nice. Also, JB was populated ?

2012 TF2 xG best TF2 time in existence. Nothing else even comes close. Back then, staff flung shit at each other but in a playful way. The servers were constantly filled. TF2 had just become Free-to-play so people became more interested. We even had a fully working goldenrodcity 24/7 server, a populated FF2 server, gaming history was starting, 24/7 dustbowl was full and even had a warioware server for a small time before the plugin broke.

Plus, we still had CS:S minigames and jailbreak, which in my opinion were the best xenogamers servers ever, no questions asked.

Now, The only servers that are full are surf or trade and I have to be careful what I say for fear of getting banned, which sucks but whatever.

EDIT: Hopefully I didnt just gravedig

Oh my god your poor soul.

Had to briefly use Haskell for university coursework.  It wasn't a fun time ?

I can sort of see the beauty of functional languages at times, but goddamn, writing and debugging Haskell was one of the worst programming experiences I've ever had.

I don't mind it too much. I've become comfortably familiar with it. Currently, I'm learning how to use it to write a shell using only some Posix libraries, which is a gigantic pain in the ass. Never use a functional programming language for anything low level. Forking has issues with recursion that annoy the piss outta me.

I'll acknowledge that I was being an ass back then. Some of the stuff I still see as funny banter, but I understand that the comments about management were out of line. Causing grief was never my intention, just to have some banter with someone and see who could throw it back harder.

Again, I know this was inappropriate.

Overall though, there's one major thing that I've become dead tired of. Old people who have left the clan, most the time claiming they want nothing to do with it anymore, still lurking around waiting to jump at any hint of drama or to cause it themselves. This has been an issue for far too long where people come back only to comment on how awful they think everything is, say this that and everything in between is a problem, then end up coming around solely to cause those damn problems themselves when they didn't exist until they did so. I seriously think a lot of the worst people around here have left, and the problems those people complain about are ones that they were the worst perpetrators of, especially with the argument of "groups". Until this old groups crawl up and start mucking about again, this isn't something that plagues the community anymore. You have people like bone who actually try to find a resolution to these problems when they get brought up like this, and then you have other people who go around and decide they'll break rules on the server to try and prove their point.

Yeah, I know. People that were once part of the community they loved dearly, and helped establish a great server with wonderful people, cool organization and leaving it in the hands of some great people come back a year later, and find that it's been dumbed down and replaced by people who defend fetish porn sprays then asks themselves "Why does this person hate me" is the worst thing to ever happen to this community. Gain some perspective.

You think I do this for fun? Spend my time looking at my past work, at the community's past work, talking with older members of the clan like some jaded football players, reminiscing about the good old days back when it was a fun? I do it because I give a poop about stuff I've helped the community worked on, and don't like it being ruined by immature kids who think they know everything about the world when they haven't even hit their twenties.

I'm just going to cut myself short at this point, but when you're coming back just to stir things up and not actually help anything, then the nicest way I can put it is please, go away. That's clearly not going to stop though and there's always going to be people coming back for the sole purpose of being buttholes, which is why i'm going to just leave myself at this point.

This is the exact behavior I'm talking about. Instead of asking "Where do you think this is going on?" or "Where you do think we need to improve?", you immediately start defending yourself and then complain that all of your problems somehow involve old members. And threatening to leave? If you can't handle criticism, you don't deserve to be here. Get gone and stay gone, or grow a spine and ask what you can do to make this a more enjoyable experience.

  6. Can we have a serious discussion about the nepotism going on in this clan? It's absolutely absurd.

    Take this thread for instance...

It's about an admin using a suggestive furry porn spray. I personally believe that this shouldn't be happening, especially by someone who represents power in the organization. One person, @NitNat offers this suggestion:

Okay so I’m putting this blunty because I know damn well I’m not the only one who feels like it’s just a bunch of friends gathering together to protect anyone in that circle and not caring about anyone outside of their groups input. Like there’s even random people crawling out of whatever rock they came from, not being relevant in the problem at all, to help save anyone who’s under fire.

He made a simple statement, and within five minutes, he got four replies and the thread was closed by the very same people he's referring to.

It's the community right now. A lot of them don't want to admit it, but the best way to get moderator isn't to show that you're hard-working, constantly on the servers and reminding others of the rules, but instead get real close to the current administration until you've got a spot in their private discord, at which you're pretty much a shoo-in all the way to administrator. Nobody wants to admit it though, because if they did, the facade would crumble, and they would have to take responsibility for their actions. If you looked at XenoGamers in the past, the best way to get staff positions was to be hardworking. Now all you have to do is talk up admins, and if you're a furry, it helps.

I'm really sad to see the dying division head down this path, but there's not much you can do besides look at them and laugh. Take what happened to me for instance. I changed my name to "tired of the tf2 badmins" and had the same group of people defending that it was justified, and not the clear overreaction it was. Was anybody punished for not obeying the handbook? Nope. I got my sentenced reduced to a day, even after the leader told them it was ridiculous.

There's a reason I take breaks for months, and come back for a few weeks at a time. I enjoy playing TF2, but the community here has gone to poop with all the favoritism and staff taking things way to personally. I really hope yall can get on track with this. I'm tired of having to walk on eggshells, but if you can't handle some banter or even some lite playful trolling, then what the fudge are you doing being a mod in the first place. I refuse to acknowledge anyone that gets seriously angry about what a person says about them on the internet, especially if they have some semblance of power. Grow a thicker skin, or step down.

I tried to put this as civilly as possible, and if the thread gets closed, then so be it.

This is pretty much the last post I'll ever make on these forums anyway. Maybe a goodbye thread.

  7. People take the mumble rap debate way too seriously. Mumble rap is just supposed to be party/car music. I'm not saying it shouldn't be judged by SOME criteria, but basing it on the same criteria as "Lyrical Rap" is disingenuous at best. If your trying to expand your mind by listening to a guy named "Lil Pump" or basically anyway with the word lil in their title, you need to take a few steps back and figure out what the fudge you're trying to get from it. Even lyrical rap is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, and this is coming from a guy who's favorite album includes To Pimp a Butterfly.

  8. I've recently been on a Sci-Fi and Fantasy kick lately. The LOTR series is always fantastic, but if you need something self-contained, just read The Hobbit. If you want something more science based, try Dune. Plus we're getting a movie about it sooner than later.

If you want to have a fun light read, try Ready Player One. The pop culture references get really annoying, but the core story is actually fairly interesting. It's nowhere near the other two series I've listed, but for something casual, it gets the job done. Plus now, every store in america is trying to get rid of it, so here's your chance if you want a cheap copy.

  9. Well you are right, I should have gotten more to the story before putting in the ban, but I figured I'd do it because sourcebans wasn't working anyway, and @Kypari is one of my staff which of course I will trust him in most situations. As for @Brians ban, I will propose we drop the ban down to a much lower time, as sure, a month ban may seem a bit much in the event he did not see his warnings. In the future though, please try to pay attention to chat in the event this comes up again. There's really no middle ground when it comes to warnings, we can't do voice because someone may have their sound muted, and we can only count on the user paying attention to the chat when it does come to warnings. When it comes to the time we should lower it to, I will propose we lower it to a week. The user in question still had the intention and a history of instigating our staff on the server, and I feel it would be completely unfair for us to drop the ban completely.

To which I reply that there has been no prior history besides some actions I was already punished for. A week ban for not seeing a message is still too excessive, especially when the only evidence submitted was outdated evidence including stuff I was punished for, and a name change punishment that I didn't recognize at the time.

  10. Your previously block was from the night before and was due to your incredibly rude and disrespectful behavior both to a player and staff. Your outright demand that this player be muted was due solely to their voice being immature, while their behavior was perfectly in check, and based of an outdated and heavily changed rule.

You did not leave immediately after this, and choose to instead argue with staff further using admin chat, and it was some time after being addressed and explained to that you choose to even further antagonize staff and then leave immediately after. Your continued attempt to get around the gag for the purpose of attacking others would have landed you a kick had you not left, and quite frankly you should have been banned at that point.

The name you choose to use today was very clearly aimed at your frustration over what had occurred and showed an absolute lack of improvement to your behavior on your part.

I've heard of you having behavioral problems recently, though others would be more enlightened to any such occurrences than me as I only have experience as to these specific two situations. Overall though, I feel the ban, as well as the time of it due to previous offenses, is very much justified at this point.

    -1

Do two incidents, one of which I was already punished for, really justify a ban for an entire month, especially when today alone I saw cases where two people were typing the n-word and using homophobic langauge, yet nothing was done? Do you believe that my ban deserves to be a month long, only for a name change?

  11.

I promise I try to be as unbiased as possible. Obviously I'm not perfect and no-one is, but in this situation I tried to be as unbiased as possible including asking other staff in a private discord if it was OK to ban you just in case.

    And I appreciate it, however...

Usually the procedure goes warn ->kick -> day ban -> week ban -> month ban -> perm. As you had already gone past the week ban stage, it's a month.

Is blatantly false, unless you are referring to the bans that occurred two and three years ago, in which case is even more ridiculous.
