Towny/Factions/Vanilla all get really bland really fast. You guys apparently never realize how quickly the population spikes then drops because you've done the exact same thing multiple times already. Way too much wait, not a lot to back it up once the server is out. You guys will 100% see a huge drop in players soon because reaching endgame in these modes is so easy it's insane. Start the server with one big mod, then slowly cycle through to fresh mods once people have run out of things to do other than sit and afk farm.

The servers aren't dying because people are reaching endgame, that's a biased statement if you consider getting good armor/elytras endgame. Towny & Factions (if setup properly) adds extra elements to the game such as managing a town or base raiding. Unfortunately, every faction revision has ruined the server by having insane world borders which makes finding other factions an impossible task. Towny on the other hand has consistently retained population from those who enjoy building and the vanilla survival experience minecraft has to offer, but it eventually dies off because people get bored.

The problem with minecraft aside from botched setups is that xG lacks players who enjoy raiding or building enough to sustain the population of our servers. We're also not gaining any new players, there are too many established servers that offer a better experience than our out of the box factions & towny.

Mod packs is probably the right move to keep interest for longer but requires more resources and setup than your traditional spigot server setup. You also need a good computer to handle some modpacks so that might restrict a few interested players. Regardless I think its worth trying to setup, obviously factions/towny hasn't been working out so maybe its time to try something new........

He didn't see the warning which was why he thought it was unwarranted lol. He got unmuted because I didn't put timestamps or mute time in there

    I don't get this.

@Topaz I don't want to argue over semantics, we're each entitled to our own opinions and how we view the situation. Your justifications to what I said won't really change my mind for the most part, although I do agree with most of it.

P.S. I never said the mute had unwavering support, 3 people in chat disagreed with the mute and more in VC (hence why I said some people). Stop trying to argue for the sake of arguing (I'm really not interested at all). Regardless, as a staff member yourself you should realize the mute is a bit silly. Ig the additional warnings prior to that kind of justify the mute, but even then no one felt that way after the unmute so whatsup with that?

If you read my response to Rabid I explained that I was elaborating on the reasons for the punishments of 10man spam, and as soon as it got to the point where there was no longer any meaning in the debate and it was just insults back and forth between others, I gave warnings in chat. That was also not only warning I gave, so it's not as if I just suddenly saw fit to end it with a warning. Only when I saw that it would escalate into people pointlessly berating people did I take action; it was heated, but there was purpose behind the initial argument, unlike how it turned into. I actually would have given warnings sooner, but my discord took ages for me to receive + send messages.

Stopping a pointless flamewar is a childish power trip?

Why are you selectively reading my quote?

To carry on an argument for as long as he did then threaten to end it by using his discord powers is extremely childish and borderline a power trip. It should have never happened in the first place.

I never said stopping the nonsense in #csgo was a childish power trip. Your participation by feeding Steven is childish, and calling it a "flamewar" when it was just Steven freaking out while other people are trying to input valuable opinions is borderline a power trip (hence, I never said it was actually a power trip).

Just going to highlight this section of the chat, as it's by far the most important thing that was said during the entirety of the discussion.

    unknown.png

You were warned that you were going to be muted, and you were because you continued to berate, escalate, and continue.

Why are you taking that warning out of context? That was generalized towards people arguing over the 10man tag usage, not Rabid's response.

Rabid's response to that is purely derived from the fact Hong not only participated in the argument, but decided to carry it on. To carry on an argument for as long as he did then threaten to end it by using his discord powers is extremely childish and borderline a power trip. It should have never happened in the first place.

Solving problems through an argument gets you nowhere, and this isn't an exception. People stick with their ideology and keep arguing the same points over and over and over again.

An argument is an exchange of opposite views with the attempt for parties involved to reason with each other. Saying an argument will get you nowhere and that people will "stick with their ideologies" is both false and projecting your own opinion.

    1 hour ago, Tatost said:

To prevent chat spam we end arguments as early as possible, but sometimes people (like you and Steven) are too stubborn to chill out, so we have to resort to mutes/kicks/bans depending on the situation.

Chat spam is meaningless and pointless messages, an argument over certain policies is not chat spam (xD).

    1 hour ago, Tatost said:

In regards to your mute, it's entirely my fault and no one else's. I was told that times on punishments were jank, but I was under the impression that it meant all of them, not just bans. I would have set an actual time on the mute if I had known better. The absence of time stamps on the mute is just me trying to shut people up as fast as possible before anything else was said. In short, I'm sorry I fucked up your mute, but you are unmuted now so I don't see as to why this continues to be an issue. Hopefully, you can understand where I'm coming from and we don't have to have a huge thread over a very slight mistake.

You accidentally permanently muting him wasn't even the problem. The fact you muted him in the first place was the problem, and people even agreed it was unwarranted.

    5UdU0eU.png

If you actually believed the mute was deserved you would have proceeded to fix your mute to be 30 minutes. Instead, you decided to stop talking and not mute him at all (wow this probably should have been done by staff during the argument).

But please, if something similar to this ever pops up in chat, refrain from resorting to toxic remarks and at least show some level of respect towards staff members.

If you're going to be staff please don't be so sensitive. Yes, Rabid's comments were unnecessary but your reaction to the severity of what he said screams you are emotional and can respond irrationally if rubbed the wrong way.

  5. Dude xD we've been mega trolled lol. Hold onto the hope you've done anything but waste time blowing up a goblin shithole lmao.

Don't worry it's true, you got me good, goblin hovel was my lovechild and without it or my house I'll never survive the mormon attacks : (

Yeah if someone destroyed my fake base I would be as composed as you.

  6. I agree offline raiding should be a thing and I will fix that indefinitely.

I also don't want obsidian to be indestructible in a sense, I will review what to do with it with the others but the last thing I want to see is everyone using obsidian+water in their bases, it looks ugly. We will either change the value for which obsidian breaks or configure a magic spell which can be used to break it if possible.

    Sounds good.

Its like one or two lines in the faction config btw. offline tnt or something like that.

  7. @Atamo

    @Kart

Hello, not sure who is doing the server stuff now but I just want to make suggestions and point out issues.

    • Featherboard is currently disabled/broken. I created a config for fb+deluxe chat to display information on active auctions. Since fb is disabled, whenever an auction is started only the item is announced in chat but no information. This should be fixed as Silence paid for the plugin (and it is really nice). If the config isn't on the server, me or owl can send you a backup.
    • You currently cannot TNT factions while the members are offline. I haven't been able to thoroughly test this if its for online factions as well. This should be changed because it ruins raiding and removes the need for investing into obsidian vaults for protecting loot.
    • The nether should be enabled. From what I have been told, the nether+end is disabled for future "quests" that are not ready and progression. I can understand the end being disabled because of loot you can get+xp farms (obviously it should be enabled eventually). However, the nether should not as it just removes a lot of content from the game (various blocks and potion requirements).
    • The /bal and /pay commands are currently broken.
    • Guests should have access to commands such as /tpa and /sethome (afaik they cannot tpa, not able to test /sethome). It's just inconvenient not having it, my friend was complaining when he joined the server. Other incentives should be given to members (money, kits, cosmetics, etc..) instead as the member rank is the only way you have access to teleport commands.

I had other things on my mind but I forgot, will post anything else if I remember.

  8. @james8470

Honestly, the server hasn't been in this good of a state for a very long time (maybe Arthman era). I can understand the stress of configuring (and building) a minecraft server during your own free time for hours on end loses its charm after a while. The release, aside from the donator /economy stuff (which would take a few minutes to fix), appears to be pretty successful compared to the past few launches. Delays are not a big deal, you shouldn't feel as if you did not deliver because it was not on time. These type of things should not have deadlines.

Some of your other points seem like excuses, although I understand you want to keep your grades up. You should reconsider stepping down and wait a while before you make a decision (unless you are truly unhappy, that's not my business).

edit: forgot to mention the spawn looks really good

edit2: you should ignore that person who went at you in discord, he's a sad person and his word holds little value

  9. Actually, I am qualified.

Your previous response begs to differ. You stated that Windows was open source which is just wrong. You're also correlating anything open source to be extremely vulnerable which is not always the case and a double edged sword.

If you get a virus on your browser on android, you are most likely in deep doodoo until you find a way to get rid of it as it's open source like windows and windows is vulnerable as heck.

Okay, none of that makes any sense because you're talking about browsers for android which are mostly closed source. So how are you correlating getting a virus on a closed source browser to be the fault of the particular android's OS being open source? Are you referring to flaws in the OS being abused or the browser? Do you have context or citations if it is the operating systems fault? This snippet of your post jumps around everywhere and doesn't sound very intelligent.

What is the definition of "it's" in this case? Are you referring to android or the browser? You are referring to a browser in your post. This conversation was about an operating system, not an application.

Is it possible you are not actually qualified and your time taking "Networking Systems Administration" for 3 years has in-fact not taught you anything on the matter at hand?
