3 pointsThere's no point to dwell on the issue of someone -1'ing an individual based on if they see them or not, as A. we will not allow that to be a valid vouch and B. We will implement an appropriate requirement of activity on our servers to address people's concerns.

[urgent] Plugins Broken After Server Crash.
virr and one other reacted to Amymaniac for a post in a topic
hey guys, we have an urgent issue on the Minecraft server. The server suffered a crash and when myself and the others playing got back on we noticed several plugins no longer exist within the game. Towny is gone, and our town we spent so long on is now under threat from creepers, fire spread, griefers, you name it. All rights to the town are none existent. We also do not have our tags visible in the chat, so we can only assume how many plugins are actually broken. I can confirm teleporting still works but thats as far as we have tested thus far. We desperately need someone to head on over to the server side of things and fix everything ASAP. @Aegean @SuperMaddud @Rhododendron -

You can be sorry, but saying sorry usually doesn't cut it. You should know the rules, and you should know better. No one wants you to honestly stay banned, but what is the point of a punishment if we just unban everyone who makes a ban protest? I'm sure the DMs' will discuss your punishment and give something a bit more promising, but I don't know because I'm not them. -
2 pointsI was really sure that all of his bans were for the same thing, since I know I have warned him way too many times about this exploit. Most of the time he would do it up to a kick, then stop or leave. My mistake, I'll lower the ban to a week. -Closed. Edit: After talking with higher ups for a bit, we have realized this kind of system is incredibly abusable, as one person could just go down the line breaking rules and never really receive too harsh of a punishment. After looking over how other staff have done their bans for the longest time, I have realized that they have all really done the same thing, so there is really no reason why we should give this user special treatment. The user chose to ride down the punishment line to a permanent ban, and that is how it will stay until we discuss it further. I will open the thread back up for more feedback, but I do truly believe the user should stay permanently banned.

How the fuck does one call themselves british and not know the difference between "no one" and "know one" lol -
2 pointsI think you misunderstood the security part. The reason silence doesn't want a discord is because we have no idea where the data we are transferring is heading, and what discord is actually doing with the data we are giving them. With Teamspeak all voice data is sent to our own server (this is the important part) so therefore we know for sure that whatever is going on in there isn't being sold or w/e.

1 pointI dont think he means that, if you get their steam id which takes less than a minute you can check how much time they have had in each of the servers. This argument should just stop now because of the thing @Aegean is implementing. And if you want to keep arguing take it to the shoutbox or some shit like that.

[urgent] Plugins Broken After Server Crash.

Fixed! -
1 pointThe way that most staff have dealt with it matches his previous bans Xeno Gamers so I think the system needs to be clarified. I think the system we use works fine but I think staff need to know exactly what to do with no doubt in their mind.
-
1 pointLet me just say that making a ban protest doesn't automatically get you banned. Each ban protest is treated as a special case and is determined as such. Making posts throughout the thread like: "I won't do it again. Unban me." doesn't really make your case better. I will say however, that a perm is a bit overkill. For anyone who is actually curious to his previous bans, here: Xeno Gamers He's be banned for exploits and calladmin abuse. Personally, a shorter length ban would have been more than fine. If he came back after being banned again for exploiting, just to continue doing so, then perm should follow suit. Also, I want to tack on, that I never based their ban time on their previous bans as a whole. I would look over them, sure, but banning for continuous trolling versus exploits is different time decisions. Obviously this guy may be different from the rest of the people that are banned, but figured just give some food for thought on this statement.
-
1 pointThe system nearly all staff (as far as I know) are using is Warn, Gag/Mute/, Kick, Day, Week, Month, Perm, regardless of the differences between the rules that they have previously broken. For example, if someone gets banned for a day for micspam, they could get banned for a week for trolling. Changing the system to make it so this person isn't banned for as long would be altering the banning system that we should be using right now so I think a perm is justifiable for now unless the higherups want to have a discussion about the banning system we are currently using.
-
1 pointAlso @mrnutty12, your opinion would be appreciated as well.

1 pointHopefully I am redeemed of this tragic mistake.

Member Application Changes!
YeEternalTuna reacted to Forest for a post in a topic
Do keep in mind that there are many contributing factors to how often you may see an applicant which is why it is rarely a legitimate reason to negatively vouch for someone (unless the rank site shows otherwise). Most prominently, the largest factor is the possible time-zone difference between yourself and the applicant. Like Aegean said, there are 24 hours in a day which allows huge flexibility in terms of when a Player actually hops on the Server. At the time you may be playing, the applicant may be in school or at work, and vice-versa. Additionally, you should only be negatively vouching if you have a valid reason to be doing so. If nothing comes to mind, you should not be going out of your way to dig up some dirt on the applicant, so-to-speak. If the applicant plays on a Server that you do not play on, then you should have no sway on that application (assuming this is your only reason to negatively vouch). Of course you can give your opinion on the applicant if you have a reasonable understanding of their character or have interacted with him/her, but again, you should not be negatively vouching based on how often you see the applicant as this is completely subjective and otherwise unfair due to the number of Players who don't play on every Server but have a selective one or two of which they prefer. -

Bring An Offical Discord Server
Aegean reacted to Rhododendron for a post in a topic
Closing since it has been answered! -
1 pointyeah Discord channels are fine for small inter-clan groups of friends but when it comes to a large scale Discord for the entire clan I agree completely with virr in that having everything hosted on teamspeak servers owned by the clan is much more safer and easier to maintain.
-
1 pointOh this thread again. Oh yeah because that's totally secure and all about the security. Discord is absolutely inferior in every way, shape and form in terms of security when compared to teamspeak. In terms of permissions for a large multi-gaming community, discord is garbage. There's a reason other gaming communities with multiple divisions stay clear from discord.

+1 This turtle gets away with tiny stuff. A: 9 M: more mature than a 12 year old (tatost) -
1 pointI just reduced the download size of point-shop content from 90mb to 35mb. This will give us a massive advantage over other TTT servers. An average download speed can retrieve all server content (43 player models and lots of hats + trails) in 10s now or a VERY slow one in 60s. The custom weapons on Morbus are only 11mb and there's a moderate amount of them. These will take a very long time to setup, rebalance and test for TTT though. It may be possible to get away with keeping and pre-loading the 20 smallest maps. Having only 30s down-time between maps plus anther 15s for instant map vote completion on majority will be amazing! People who've played TTT before will already have a lot of these maps, speeding up the pre-loading process. I'm willing to bet 400mb will compress down to 100mb.

1 pointI do not like -1'ing a player due to not knowing / seeing them, there's 24 hours in a day and even if you play 6 hours every single day, you might not see them. If the people he plays with doesn't +1 for whatever reason, then he would not get accepted which defeats the purpose of what I'm going for.

1 pointHonestly, i don't see why you couldn't just lower the requirements to like 2 +1s and not 7 plus an admin (at least for TF2). I honestly don't see how getting 2 members to +1 it is hard. A few times, i have seen people join not even be that much of a conversationalist and still get the vouches because they are active on the server and they see them a lot. Even two vouches seems to be fair because if you wish to join xG, it should take some part on the other person's end to get to know the community. a bunch of new members is fine, but what happens when people try to join the clan under a different name then what is recognized on the servers? For example. Say User A, was is a little bit of a jerk to the point where you can justify a -1, he can theoretically get in because some people just don't pay attention to the member submission, since it's lower down on the website. another concern of mine is that it makes it much harder to tell who is and who isn't in xG with the large amount of member requests that will theoretically be made. I don't know, i think it's just a very dramatic change, could it work? Sure, but i guess my concerns are about what could happen. I'm not sure what the community in CS:GO is like but there are a lot of silly people in TF2. Also i'm just a little concerned about dividing members between Juniors and Seniors. It makes me feel that there is gonna be a sense of superiority over people who haven't been here or who aren't that active on forums. I honestly think that we are all xG members, and just adding junior and senior might be a bit confusing or breed some unforeseen shit-posting. Trust me, I've been on other forums who have had problems like that where people fought over post count and other similar things. (Muthead.com being one of the worst offenders despite being a very informative website) EDIT: also why don't we move the membership forum up on the website? As i mentioned before member submissions are at the bottom of the website, if you wanna push member applications, why not make an advertisement on the website AND move the members section up more and move some of the lesser used forms lower? @Aegean

1 pointYou fools. You stupid, crazy fools. Do you realize what you have done? You have effectively opened the floodgates to them all; this will be the end of vouching as we know it. The structure and integrity of vouches have been buried alive, and I can hear the collective whispers of the damned as the time draws near. They are coming. You have doomed us all. The uprising of the "+1 cool guy" is at hand. All jokes aside, I'm pretty skeptical about the new system. I never really saw a problem with the old system where upon reaching 10 positive vouches, the applicant was accepted (where any negative vouches would reduce the total positive) after 24 hours of receiving the final 10th vouch. I completely understand the idea behind this movement, but exclusivity at the cost of getting 10 vouches didn't [and still doesn't] seem like some impossible feat. It gave Players something to work for (as opposed to a generalized ratio of positive to negative vouches which is in effect now) and they could see in real-time where they were at in the review process in terms of monitoring their positive vouches. I personally feel that quality is far better than quantity, and that's what we got when letting Players in to represent Xeno Gamers as a full-time Member through the old system. It ensured that we let quality Players in, not just any Player off of the street, and it gave Xeno Gamers this sort of respectable air around it. Joining Xeno Gamers felt like an honour (to me at the time) and so it felt great to receive all of the vouches I did because I worked hard for them and was rewarded for my efforts by receiving a full-membership. The number of vouches not only gave the community an idea of who the Player was, but it also enabled the Higher-Ups to formulate an opinion themselves because, more often than not, it would take weeks to get in at a time. It gave a decent buffer time for Higher-Ups and enabled them to weed out any Players they deemed 'not worthy'. 2 days just seems too few to really judge a Player. That all being said, if the end-goal is quantity > quality, then it's certainly more effective in that aspect. However, this is all just personal opinion, it's just good to see an active interest from the Higher-Ups in improving Xeno Gamers in any way :coffee:

0 pointsNow I'm pretty sure that your thinking, we went over this, there's no point of getting a discord server when we have team speak! Bad spoops! ;w; But hear me out for a bit. I'm not saying we are going to replace team speak with discord. I'm just asking for one. Here's some point why. 1. Discord users: I don't use teamspeak because when I first got it, it looked confusing and bland. (My opinion; not saying that I'm superior and always right calm down those people) . When I got discord it was more simple and more attractive is some ways. Also I noticed (in the tf2 division) people started to move to discord servers and creating their own. I want to bring xenogamers into this server to let people have some experience of this type of communication. 2. Security: Now I read a post about discord servers not being made because of one the main reasons, Security. You say that it going to be hard to give each people their own privacy and the content not being secured. I've actually been moderation / Administrating ( they give me admin when some ad happens they say I'm like a super hero kek) of a mobile game stream server. There the security of voice chat, text, and powers are balanced and secured. How do we do this. Role powers. Individual roles can allow role invites chat invite and voice ch invites. They can also customize their own voice text ch like in team speak. I'll would tell you more how but it takes some steps and process that I'll later explain if this goes through or has a chance. (Tired af right now ;w;) Discord ^ link 4 the mobile game server. Check it out. I will personally help out xg's discord server in customization and security while still giving owner ship to the cl or dl by them just created the server in a quick 10 step. You can leave the rest to the staff there or me to finish or address problems. 3. Fun: now in discord when I mean fun I mean like actually fun times. Fun times to try these bots, fun times to share memes, fun times to share screenshots or picks, fun times to share music, and other stuff. Ask Tatost, Isabelle, and Nitnat (the 3 Xg member discord I go to) to see what discord can do. I hope didn't waste your time or maybe interested the Xg leader out there. I'm tired and I was just thinking so ya... here it is. Just wanna help ;w;
