Staff Psa: Issuing Warnings
Ms.Spooks and 3 others reacted to Vexx for a post in a topic
So apparently staff doesn't know how warnings work on the servers based on recent incidents, so I'm going to go over how warnings should be issued. A normal warning: You tell the player through All Chat (which is just a single @ before your sentence in public chat) OR Voice what they are doing wrong. If the player does not acknowledge when using voice, give them another warning through All Chat, before punish them for their first punishment. Quoted from the staff manual: Warn, then slay/mute (sometimes optional), then kick, then ban [WSKB] Players should know why they were punished When you punish a player, make sure to let them know why they were punished so they can improve. Example: Person Y freekilled person X, you slay person Y and respawn person X. You need to tell person Y why they were slain. Something like "You were slain because you freekilled person X." works. How past warnings work: If you warn a player for something in the past and they do it, don't immediately jump to banning them. Depending on the amount of time it has been since their last warning for the incident, you may need to warn them again to remind them not to do it. 1 warning per week is good enough for someone who is repeating the same offense. If you feel the person has committed an offense too many times you can jump to a kick. Now keep in mind, you can skip warnings for certain things. An example of this would be: Hacking, micspamming music, exploiting, etc. Generally if you are unsure what to do about a situation, feel free to ask a fellow staff member. If you're still unsure, please look at the staff manual here: TF2 Staff Manual (Everything you need to know!) @Bello @Sesh @mrnutty12 @Rejects Feel free to add on to my post if you feel I left something out. -

Staff Psa: Issuing Warnings
YeEternalTuna and one other reacted to Reptile for a post in a topic
It's always a good idea to issue warnings through all chat above all else, some people keep mic chat off for a variety of reasons- this can range from anything to needing to keep their volume low, parents not wanting younger kids talking with strangers or hearing them, having company over, or simply just not wanting to hear people. They can't really be blamed for this because there's so many reasons people could want to keep things down or not hear others. Of course, as said, if they ignore you via text and keep up whatever it is and they don't respond to voice either then feel free to punish accordingly. At least, this is how I usually see things. -
2 pointsI've discussed with rejects quite extensively in the past about the issues, and he promised me issues like this won't happen again, and he knew he was on his last straw. We will discuss among the other higherups and make a decision asap.

Well, with past problems in mind such as: Editing your own weapon attributes, the bach situation, your attitude constantly getting worse with players, using /rof and killing random players, and once again deciding to change your own weapon attributes, I think a demotion may have to happen. There have been way too many incidents to look over this time, sorry rejects but it's really the only thing I can think to do. -

Well he did say that's what he had assumed you kicked him for, but in his mind that is not wrong as most of the staff usually ignores the /colorme while in friendly. With that being said, we really should go over whether or not we should allow that, as it seems it's under confusion. -
2 pointsTo clear up complaints, if we wanted to get rid of every "bad map" we had, we'd get rid of maps like Delphino airstrip, cyberpunk and Hotel Hell. Just because a map is bad in your eyes, does not mean others find it bad. As for Apadiel, I quite enjoyed the map which is why I had it added in the first place, one of the few maps that gives you something to do other than killing each other. If you don't like the platforming on it, I could make it easier by having @Bello or @Rejects have the map auto-set low gravity when the map starts up. Other than that, I do not want to remove the map because it's "bad" because honestly, there are worse maps on the rotation. -1

Xg Skin Pack [tf2] [updated Whenever]
Thorax_ and one other reacted to Cr0w64 for a post in a topic
As far as I know, there are no skins capable of adding things such as lazers without rendering a map-long lazer model in every time you fire or charge a shot. Which can cause technical issues if multiple people, let alone ONE person, uses it. -

Division: Team Fortress 2 Staff Name: Rhetorical (Rejects) Staff's Identity: STEAM_0:0:64498855 Evidence: Abuse of weapon stats by adding "Allows you to see enemy health" to weapons. Screenshot: Recorded demo This stat obviously provides a substantial advantage when fighting enemies. Further Information: In the past, there have been several anonymous users suspecting this very same abuse of stats like faster revving up speed and firing speed on heavy, and this further confirms it. @Rejects @Bello @mrnutty12 @Vexx @Sesh @Aegean -

Not sure why the map is even on the server. It's not video games, and it's awful. It's really frustrating with the platforming and snipers hanging around in both of their spawns, shooting at each other back in forth is really annoying. It's also not very pleasent to look at. -

1 pointI might be misreading a thing here or there, but text warnings should always be given out alongside voice if people like to use the mic a lot. Some people keep voices off for one reason or another.
-
1 pointThis brings up something ive noticed in this thread.I'm not saying anyones opinion is wrong, since this is an opinion based community poll, but I will say I see some people treating a map being gaming history related as reason enough for us to host it. And atleast in my opinion, a map being gaming related should be the bare minimum for consideration, not the standard requirement for getting through. A map can be gaming history related and still low quality.

1 pointHave you ever felt that the TF2 servers are losing their energy? Or that your beloved, precious inventory just wasn't cutting it one way or another? Everlasting boredom that just creeps up on you unannounced and makes you feel... Overall depressed to some extent...? Well say no more! Thanks to the lack of "sv_pure" in xG servers, I am proud to announce that I am now building an occasionally updated pack of skins and sound packs just to give your game a little more spice so you can have just a little more fun getting those dank ass head shots or just fooling around with friends on the daily. Since there weren't many weapon-based materials implemented in the servers' list of small whatsits and whatnot, I decided to do everyone a favor by making these skins I am using just a little easier accessible to the group. BUT, this pack is still in the works as I am testing these skins and sound packs out for any bugs and potential threats before adding them to a list which will be updated at least once a week with anything I can find by my leisure. Anyway, enough chit-chat. Here's this week's batch. 1.Splatoon Soundpack V.2 Splatoon Soundpack V.2 (Team Fortress 2 > Sounds > Packs) - GAMEBANANA 2.Blundered Rifle Blundered Rifle (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Sniper > Sniper Rifle) - GAMEBANANA 3.The American Dream REDUX The American Dream REDUX (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Multi Class > Pistol) - GAMEBANANA 4.Stream Shooter Stream Shooter (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Multi Class > Reserve Shooter) - GAMEBANANA 5.Raging Bull Raging Bull (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Spy > Enforcer) - GAMEBANANA 6.The Compensator The Compensator (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Sniper > Sniper Rifle) - GAMEBANANA 7.The Jury Rig The Jury Rig (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Packs) - GAMEBANANA 8.The Splatterscope the Splatterscope (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Sniper > Sydney Sleeper) - GAMEBANANA 9.COCONUT GUN COCONUT GUN (Loose Cannon reskin + sound mod) (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Demoman > Loose Cannon) - GAMEBANANA 10.Current Event AWP V2 Current Event AWP V2 (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Sniper > AWPer Hand) - GAMEBANANA 11.Assault Cannon FIX Assault Cannon FIX (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Heavy Weapons Guy > Minigun) - GAMEBANANA 12.Lancer Lancer (Team Fortress 2 > Skins > Medic > Crusaders Crossbow) - GAMEBANANA All of these are to be extracted into the custom folder of your TF2 game. I am probably going to keep adding 12 at a time unless I can find more OR someone sends me links to more. Have fun, guys. ;)

Im neutral on the case, and it's a day ban so not the biggest deal, but I will say it's always been my opinion that the responsibility for making sure warnings are heard falls on staff and only staff. You're a more trusted member for a reason and more is expected of you. Use voice and text chat both in most situations to be 100% sure. Some players will have voice off, some never read chat. It's just better/safer to cover your bases. -

I'm a bit unsure myself to be honest, I've mostly just been waiting to see everyone's statements and even now I'm not sure what to say just yet. Apologies on that, guess I'll keep an eye on this and think it over a bit more. -
1 pointI agree, lets get @Rejects side of the story before we sharpen the pitchforks.
-
1 pointI will say that the "It has a gaming history area" argument is a bit weaker with bsor than masscc and abstract. Both of those maps are well made and visually interesting/enjoyable to play in the non gaming areas. Bsor though is comparable with Hyrule for file size and doesn't fit anywhere close to the same level of map in the space. It has only the one section worth playing, the rest is just drab and poorly made open areas and stock textures. There is so much wasted space, and so much of the map percentage is low quality that it just seems like a step below the other maps on the server. As does apadiel obviously.
-
1 pointI mean I personally like the map sometimes so I think I'm going to -1 this based off that MassCC is actually pretty fun sometimes. Me and @Thunder got everyone on the server playing things like sharks and minnows and whatnot with the entire server. Of course it's not gaming history related but it's pretty fun when you can organize things

Going to stay neutral, I would've liked if you had actually spent the original 50 post count you were supposed to get on actually participating in the community. Instead you just spam bumped old membership applications when you could've just reported them or let a DM+ know in a private message. The way you went about getting your post count has left a not so good impression on me personally, so I will stay neutral to this application. -

[ff2] Bring Back Which Bosses?
realBelloWaldi reacted to Bone for a post in a topic
Well, see the issue was due to the main power up that the team fighting against the boss gets, PlayPoints. See, certain bosses use a specific class, and say that person has a PP ability for that class, well, it makes it much harder. Bosses like Chuck Norris used the Heavy, which allowed players to use Hyper Heavy as him. You're talking about a global rage on life loss and a rage that gives him a weapon that one-shots most classes whilst being super fast. A lot of those bosses that were removed had an issue that allowed them to use the powers. Sandmen, Heavydile, Herobrine, Bowser, Shrek, Sanic, etc... Now a way we stopped that was to go into the boss' .cfg and change their class, which could cause issues with some bosses... Now that all PP powers are back, we have to re-take this into account again. Meaning if we re-add Sanic and Sandmen they will have either 520 or Homing Balls. So before re-adding them, they'll need to change their .cfg defined class again -
0 pointsAs for the map list being over populated, people used to complain all the time that we didn't have enough maps. I personally think it's better to have more maps and not less, variety keeps things interesting. Anyone can nominate a map at any time, use nomination to your advantage if you want to play a certain map. As for broken maps, if you get me a list of maps that are legitimately broken to the point of it causing bad problems on the server, I will have those maps removed.

-1 pointsWhy are you getting so aggravated? I think you should calm down. No need to be so rude. Also What are the other reasons though? I mean it seems to be stretching it And as others have said, the other maps have actual gaming areas. Comparing a small church to a large area is silly. Also idk how having some glaceons in a church makes it automatically gaming. How is that a reason it's not gaming history though? I'm sorry but they are still large areas you can get to on your own, and even then you can clearly seem them via spectate.
