Does it really matter if it was your idea or not? This post is just trying to shift blame if you guys get in trouble (which you probably won't, at most you will be asked to shut it down). I really don't believe or can take this post seriously. And as for "I didnt mean to type Official" do you really think people will believe that you "accidentally" put that in there? Like cmon. There was plenty of dissent before you guys made it and yet it was made anyways. I have yet to see a benefit in having a discord along with a teamspeak. Creating a Discord basically just disregards all the work @Rhododendron has put into the server. There are tons of community channels and a set of channels for TF2 specifically. And also there are tons of community channels that are owned by TF2 staff. I heard a complaint that not a lot of people are on TS (which is false) but if you don't see people you know how about you invite them on. Why invite newer members or member who haven't installed TS yet onto a discord that a minority of the community will ever go on. It just separates them like I said before. I really have no idea why this idea really went through.

It's fine if you guys want to set up a Discord for use outside of Xeno Gamers' Team Speak, that isn't what I'm getting at. What I'm getting at here is labeling the Server/Channel as a 'Xeno Gamers' Server/Channel when it isn't/hasn't been given the 'okay' by our upper management. Also, just to clarify (my apologies for not specifying), the 'Higher-Ups' that I was referring to in my previous post was directed at anyone in a position above Division Leader [no offense] as Division Leaders lack the proper authority to make a call outside of their particular domain [typically Server side, rule specifics, etc]. As a friendly reminder, do keep in mind that the CLs+ are the ones to approach for anything community related (IE. Sponsored events, groups, new Divisions, etc) as this is one of their primary roles in the clan. Just to reiterate, I have no complaints about players getting together on a different application to game and have fun; Xeno Gamers is all about fostering a sense of community and having a good time. It's great to see Members taking an active interest in expanding Xeno Gamers; I definitely don't want to discourage that and I'm sure the Higher-Ups feel the same way. That being said, I'm just suggesting that Players/Members refrain from labeling anything that hasn't been approved or introduced by the CLs+ first as there may be a reason it hasn't been made available to the community :)

Pretty much what forest said, we have absolutely 0 control over people making discords or hanging out with friends in other servers aside from our teamspeak, but we do prefer not to seperate the groups and prefer everyone to use our teamspeak if they have access. We have spent a ton of time and resources onto our teamspeak and prefer it to be utilized by as many people as we can :)

Discord is nothing more than the poor man's teamspeak. It lacks the scalability teamspeak offers (plus features) for a gaming clan and is not suited for anything more than a replacement for skype.

they used to be in the tf2 channels on teamspeak and then they made friends with people on there from other divisions and they hang out in community channels with them where anyone is more than welcome.

Just as a suggestion [and this is only valid if you haven't done-so], and not to shut you down or anything, but you may want to get the 'go-ahead' from Higher-Ups before establishing something that is affiliated with Xeno Gamers (or is otherwise 'sponsored' by Xeno Gamers). I can't/won't speak for the Higher-Ups, but not only could it negatively impact activity on our Team Speak servers (something that dem Higher-Ups have been trying to remedy for quite some time) but Silence seems (correct me if I'm wrong) pretty adamant that a Xeno Gamers Discord Server will/should not be made and this directly goes against his statement which really ought to be considered. Same suggestion goes out to anyone else who may consider creating an external connection to Xeno Gamers without permission; keep in mind that we shouldn't just slap "Xeno Gamers" on something and proclaim it as official without at least receiving an opinion or go-ahead from the Higher-Ups. I'm not too familiar with any legalities or anything, but should something happen revolving around whatever that 'external connection' may be, it could negatively influence the clan or something along those lines. Just my 2 cents and again, just a suggestion :coffee:

Prepare for a long block of text. Will have TL;DR at end. Disclaimer: Most of this is me venting, and has no real impact onto how to imrpove the community. I want to get this off of my back, and move on with my life. Well, my time has come. It feels good to finally leave this community, mostly because I feel as if the 4 years I've been here haven't been the best in my life. Even with all the friendship's I've had with some people in this community, I feel like the negative impact of trolls & general toxicity of this place have altered my personality towards the more negative side of the spectrum. In BOTH real life, and on the internet. Since I joined back in 2012, I've noticed that I've been on my computer for unrealistic, and unhealthy amounts of time. Mostly due to talking on TS3, playing CS:S, GMOD, or CS:GO on your servers. My grades have dropped, I've lost good IRL friends, and have just turned into a more negative and anti-social person due to this community. You may be asking: Oh, how could an INTERNET GAMING COMMUNITY have this great of an impact on someones life? Well, I was once an extremely enthusiastic, fun, and caring person before joining this toxic place. I loved talking, being outside, exercising, and enjoying life away from the computer. But now... now the only thing I look forward to is getting back on the PC to do stupid shit or even troll when I'm bored. And that's not who I want to be. And with all these negatives, it still gets worse. I don't really enjoy the game like I used to in 2012. It used to be that I could REALLY enjoy JB or MG, and not have to worry about "some annoying kid" joining and ruining it for me. But "annoying kid" is most of these new members. But yet, I still force myself to talk to them, for a reason that I don't know. And it's really hindering my personality towards being a more hostile and unlikable person. As far as the good things that I've experienced about this community, and I'm quite thankful for, is he friends/relationships I've developed with some of you. I've found myself still talking to, daily, people from 4 years ago. And to me, that's amazing! Great friends made over such a hostile place. WHO KNEW? I'd also like to critique xG on my way out. I REALLY hate what the leadership has turned into, or what it's ever been. If you're a good friend with a DM+, you're basically guaranteed to get staff, or be able to help with the community more than someone who doesn't really talk to staff. I've also found that they can be cold, and "assholish" at times. Getting alittle side tracked, but I've seen MANY times people get mod/admin just because they're friends with the DM/DL. And it's quite frankly the most ANNOYING thing to see when trying to get promoted. I don't want to call anyone out, but if you got promoted for not playing, and just being friends with a DM/DL, fuck off. That's the most bull shit thing I've ever seen. I REALLY suggest you work on eliminating this out of you're DM/DLs @Aegean @Rhododendron . As it could be a good thing to help improve this community. I'm also not making maps exclusively for xG anymore. Any bugs/fixes should be fixed by @Lithium. And as far as any maps that I port/make, you can follow my gamebanana if you really want to.
