Criticism: Let It Flow
diabeetus and 3 others reacted to xGShadowSpy for a post in a topic
So...wait, you're mad at him for following the rules too well? Because that's what it looks like. There was something like what you did in the past, people changed their names and all started doing the same stuff(micspamming), because a higher ups allowed it(there's a video on xG YouTube of what happened, not sure if it includes the end. It was called MEM). What happened at the end? A Co-Leader at the time(Serbian) got on and started banning people for it. Which is a lot more serious than him muting the 2 people. Just because you said they could break the rules, doesn't mean they can. If you said they could all start mass free killing(if it was JB), that doesn't mean you can. Staff can enforce the rules strict if they want, since it is still written there, the rules doesn't say "No micspamming, unless a DM says so." Also, you said he should handle his own problems, instead of reporting it to kbrazz, isn't that why we have report abuses? Mods have no power over a DM, so what else can he do? -

Pretty sure that this thread is a bunch of triggers just being pulled (ie. Moosty vs. Kypari), but I'll roll with it. First thing that really could be dealt with is the people who harass people that are weeaboos, furries, and gays (Even though I don't really like furries, I don't harass them). Plus, people just getting bullied over their skill in the games. Second on the list is the community in a whole. Including people who playing on the servers that aren't in xG. These cleansing threads that have erupted in the past few days really help. You can't really turn a blind eye on things that are happening with players constantly. Third thing to complain about would probably be to improve the voting system for members. Make it a bit harder for people to join. Examples would be getting a certain percentage of the certain division's staff that said person is applying to (along with +1's from xG members). Meaning if I was to apply for the TF2 division of xG, I'd need to get a few or so votes from the staff. Requiring the player to put more effort to join the clan would show that the person is mature enough to attempt and apply. Rather than just making an account and just asking random people to vote on his/her member submission. Second and third aren't really complaints, they're just more of ideas that could be of use. And other than the bullying and childish people that are here I have noting more to say. Keep up the cleansing plague, xG. -

After reading through this (and one other post by @Chrono ) I see the error of our ways and I want to re-evaluate the punishments handed out (whether it is reduced ban or no ban). I apologize for reaching such a harsh decision @Chrono smells @Bleed procrastinates more than me @ASock sucks at DOTA -
2 pointsTeenagers (or rather those under 15) getting moderator was one of the worst decisions. The only way I have ever gotten their attention in TF2 servers was actively saying furries were mentally damaged and needed therapy, or that British people need to be wiped off of the face of the earth. The TF2 division is full of kiddies who censor you if you want to make a joke, no matter if it's in poor taste, or get butthurt too easily if they're the butt end of the joke. The Leader doesn't care about the quality of the players, so as long as you give him money or watch his ads. The kiddies themselves are entitled, 14 years old, complaining about ever little detail. I got threatened with a permaban the other day for dominating a member, going into friendly and taunting them. The Co-Leaders do nothing about complaints and instead post these bullshit threads every few months, saying "We need to talk", then never acting on it. One of the Co-Leaders is even VAC banned and he's still in. And you dare ask "Why is the clan so bad lately?" Find your rectum and remove your head immediately You have nobody but yourselves to blame. You let in the trolls, the crybabies and the mentally challenged drama queens, and as soon as they do something major, you ask "Why is the clan so bad?" Take a good hard look at yourselves, and maybe you'll find the answer. Until then, stop complaining you dumbasses.

still only highlighting the 1 part that semi-directly involves you. ;) atleast i can count on one of the CLs to be consistent. Go back to the parts about double jeopardy, retroactive bans, and that according to my trusted anonymous vigilante source, the involved parties in the convo were "CLs, Nomulous, TF2 DMs/DLs, and Dethman" which most notably comprises people who don't play tf2 much but have been known to have some issues with people (vector, iggy) in a one on one state, and TF2 staff that get "trolled by vector all the time" please show me how there is no bias at all in the party that was discussing banning him along with others who lightly bm compared to what you make it out to be. Note: jurors are cross-interviewed, just check out the people you want to give an un-biased opinion first. go to sources outside the immediate confines of xG, ask old co leaders to give some god damn god opinions instead of people that are salty over some bm they get when another feels they could do the job better. Note2: this is an open criticism thread, dont take it like a personal attack and get defensive when i state CLs in general are going about something wrong IMO instead look at it and give feedback on all the points -

1 pointIt makes me all warm and giddy to see that nobody really seems to have any issues with me. That's good, I suppose. I, on the flip side, don't really have any issues with any of you either. Always been pretty straightforward with my problems if they ever popped up. I'm one of those personalities that knows when shit needs to be done, and is quick to please once I'm sure everything that NEEDS to be handled has been handled. If I were to come up with an issue that I do currently have, I think it's with moderation as a whole. There are times when we can assess a situation on a server and let things just play out while everyone is being dumb and having fun. Such examples are when a server is full of xG members and we are just having a hayday, being stupid and annoying and just basically having a good time with one another. HOWEVER, while we have been known to get a bit carried away, I think we need to learn when we've hit our limit. Sure, it's important to have fun with each other on the servers, but we also must maintain a level of professionalism and control. At the end of the day, our staff isn't here to have fun, but to ensure the server rules are being administered so our patrons are having fun. My number one goal as of now is to ensure that ALL of our staff know the ins and outs of our rules and can correctly enforce those rules when the time comes to enforce them. I don't necessarily want to turn into a rules Nazi, but I do want our staff to be able to discern the difference between subtle nuances that are coming about from everyone having a good time and people who are actually breaking the rules. The biggest instance that comes to mind is the recent events that perspired that involved Moosty and myself in the TGH servers. Moosty was allowing light mic spam and another member basically jumped down his throat for it. Should Moosty have asked the rule breakers to stop? Yes. (And he did.) But from another user's point of view, it had gone on for far too long and he wasn't happy about the length of time that it took Moosty to act upon the offenders. It's stuff like this that I want to mainly focus on. Not necessarily being the "No Fun Allowed" clan, but knowing the times when the rules should be rigorously enforced and when it's okay to slack a little. We definitely don't want to be so extreme one direction over the other, but we definitely do need to be able to put our foots down when necessary. That's all I got. You guys are great. Thanks for keeping things so civil.

Many times have I seen people not return for the very reason: Vector. He'll get people rallied up against one person for something stupid and just insult them and make them feel bad. I'm a tiny bit messed up from getting my wisdom teeth extracted today, but I feel the need to say something before I go into a drug induced coma. Sorry if this sounds scatterbrained. Yes, the TF2 leadership and Dethman were in that conversation; however, we compiled the list of people that should be taken into question from asking the community as well as their complaints against them. That, combined with recent experiences, were forwarded along to the CL's and L's who then decided what should be done. Aka, we didn't come up with this tiered system. Many opinions and facts were expressed and discussed. Also, not everyone was punished, even if they were pointed out by the community. Sorry to have to make an example of someone. Asock was mentioned numerous, numerous times; however, due to recent warnings and understandings that were met, he was disregarded as needing punishment. TL; DR. The Tf2 staff and Dethman merely collected information from the community and added further input about recent experiences. The punishments were decided by the CL's and L's, and then agreed upon by everyone in the conversation. BRB going 2 pass out -

1 pointI was there and saw it all unfold. I frankly don't give a fuck whether your friends and you thought it was funny. The fact of the matter is that they were trolling, and YOU were part of it. My go: Now, I think the entire Toxicity Thread was justified and did xG a huge favour. I know I left the clan; I have no regrets. But that doesn't mean I don't want to get rid of the cancer that has been affecting this place for too long. I was asked who I thought should leave, and I don't care about admitting that. I even said myself "xG is worse than 4chan.". Dethman claimed it to be the most powerful quote he's ever heard. I'm not here to rant about the clan, but what I personally feel is that the fact that more than half of the clan don't even go onto the forums should mean that there should be votes and polls for each division. So you could get a ban from TF2, but not the forums. The fact that not many people know who others like Asock are is the very reason he hasn't been banned, as I see it. I know that next time he instigates anything he gets permed, but what I say still stands. I'm not only talking about him, but he's just one of the assholes I can think of from the top of my head.

1 pointAre you fucking serious? You wanted to put me onto tier 3 because I was doing my job? What really got me is that I had to tell A DM what to do. I'm only a moderator, and even you couldn't follow your owns rules. Id That's exactly what it is. I was telling him how to do his job. Here is the argument I had saved: [MEDIA=imgur]vcMowpq[/MEDIA] It's pretty lengthy. I'm still annoyed about that. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Right then, my turn. @ASock You aren't funny, never have been. Get yourself a life you worthless piece of shit. The only reason you haven't been banned yet is because you are liked by the CL's. Just get banned already pls. @Brian You're racist scum that doesn't deserve to be able to access these forums. I don't care for you nor do I want your negative presence here. @Moosty You don't do your job and you have a go at me? What is with you? You're higher-up than me in the staff roster and you can't even follow the rules yourself. You friends were disrespectful to me and you just let it happen as if you didn't have staff powers at all. Do your job already. @Bach I used to like you, but now look. You've disliked me this entire time and I feel betrayed. I didn't like what you said about me being annoying at all - it really hurt. I guess I was wrong about you being a good guy. Your post is even in my signature and was my status I was that distraught because I thought of you as a nice guy. @SupremeWolf Shut up. If this is a safe place to respectfully air out xG related personal grievances against other players, then I will do that now. @Kypari first off I don't think you're a bad mod, and that you follow the rules to a T. But, for the purpose of being open and honest, you should know I wanted you on tier 3 and warned. This had nothing to do with anything wrong you had done, but everything to do with how you present yourself on the forums, and how you're hyper strict interpretation of the rules can negatively impact the general mood of a server. We had that problem a couple of days ago for example, when I rounded up some server regulars who hadn't been back since late 2013 for the most part. They asked me if they could try do an immature thing we all used to do on mic (change your name to some generic teenager name, then whine about how bad the life of your character is. It sounds really stupid, but it's beautiful with 32 people doimg at once) I allowed them to try it, watched chat closely to make sure the server was ok with it, and once I saw that they were, and that randoms were joining in, I changed my name to christie, and started whining about how brad dumped me because I'm too fat. (@Bach was in on some of these back in the day, he'll prove it's not as stupid as it sounds, or atleast that it was fun) Then Kypari comes in, and is unsurprisingly shocked and confused that a dm is letting all of this micspam happen, and derides me to put my tags on, I believe an "or I'll tell kbraszz" was uttered(thats another personal issue I have with kypari, taking your personal battles to the higher ups rather than fighting them yourself). Then I put edgy pseudo tags on [xGizzle:DMizzle] which honestly was pretty rude, I was obviously doing it to irritate him, it worked, situations didn't improve, I should have put on valid tags and been done with it. I then explained the situation, he didn't get it because rules were being knowingly broken with no punishment from the moderating staff. and when his attitude in the server killed the mood and people stopped playing along I tell my friends the old regulars (we were in a skype call) to stop doing it, they do,first ask, problem solved. Except kypari isn't happy because people haven't been formally punished. So he mutes two of the guys for using the fake voice to say like a syllable over the mic. And tries to undermine my authority on the server by making an ultimatum against talking in csay, even though I, as a DM, had allowed the behavior to continue, and had put a stop to it with nothing more than a verbal warning. My main problem with you kypari is that you interpret the rules as absolute fact, you leave no wiggle room for harmless fun, you think enforcing rules means only your powers as a mod count as enforcement. But warning and having a #realtalk with a rule breaker is so much more effective than going straight to slay or mute once you've given your generic indifferent warning. As for your actions on the forums, you obviously hold strong personal beliefs, it's made painfully obvious by how you treat those who disagree with you, constant bad ratings, being rude sometimes, laughing them off as stupid the other times. You act like only the people you want to be banned should be banned. You act like only the maps you want should be added. This is getting long so I'm gonna finish it off with this, you would be so much more valuable to the community if you learned how to compromise, and lighten up a bit. I've seen a lot of staff that don't take their jobs seriously, they were bad staff and got demoted. You have the opposite issue, you take the job WAY too seriously. Lighten up a bit, moderating shouldn't keep you from having fun, and it really doesn't seem like you're having fun whenever you're on a server moderating. Sorry this was so long. I hadn't written after taking an ambien before. The ideas flow real quick it turns out. Hopefully this was somewhat coherent. -

-1 pointsBefore I go on with this thread, let me assure you that the title has no reference to the "toxicity reform" that was posted yesterday (it is in relation to it, but not directly affiliated with it). I would also like to say ahead of time that this will be yet another rant that will most likely run quite a lengthy page. In fact, just looking back, it is one hell of a read. WARNING: This is an extremely long passage that may not interest many. It is in regards to "toxicity" or other forms of "harassment". I ask that if you will not read the whole passage, skip to the bottom bolded text. So. I couldn't help but notice this on-going "problem" of toxicity within xG. Seems to me that people are getting the idea that it's something that can simply be monitored and thereby eliminated easily. I'd just like to say that to accomplish a feat like that is ludicrous in its own right. To say "we're going to put a stop to toxicity" would be like saying "we're going to put a stop to [for example] Christianity." What I mean is that toxic or salty behaviour isn't something that can be suppressed over night, in a week, hell, in a year. It's like trying to suppress or eliminate an idea, or something else that is intangible. It just can't be done without re-writing everything and starting from the beginning. The fact of the matter is that once the toxicity has spread, it has been spread. There is no stopping it, xG is already permeating with it. Now I can see how this in itself looks terrible, and I can see why anyone in their right mind would want to stop it, but to throw down a law that tries to "eliminate" it is physically impossible. What constitutes toxicity? Is it when I say "fuck you, no one loves you", or is it the simple matter of commenting "scrub" on someone's post? The shit is immeasurable. At this point in time, the line between disliking someone to the point of trying to get them banned and actually banning those who rightfully deserve it has been spread so thin that there is no clear distinction anymore, it's all grey. I can get why there is this sudden desire to want to weed out the "bad eggs" in xG, but I honestly don't think this is the proper way to do it. Laying down sanctions will only result in a stronger segregation among Members and will ultimately deliver even more reports of "toxicity", and I'm talking about any sort of "harassment" or "instigations". For Christ's sake, this is the internet. We're a gaming community that has over 10,000 Members with someone new making a new account almost every day. The internet isn't a pretty place, we're all maskless figures that can say or project whatever we want without fear of prosecution or judgement. The fact is, it is a shitty, toxic, salty, hateful online world. We all [should] know the risks of getting involved in an online community, we all [should] know there will be plenty of sarcasm, trolls, people whose sole purpose is to see the world burn. Now, I'm not saying that everyone should just take a chill pill and ignore everything, that would just be irresponsible. All I'm saying is this: Moderation. Whether that be in monitoring behaviour to prevent shit storms, or whether it be tolerating a certain amount of bullshit. By the end of the day, we will have all been subjected to (or have witnessed) some form of "online hate", and I'll bet that 90% of that hate can't even be recalled. You know why? Because chances are, you weren't bothered enough for it to have any sort of ill-effect on you. If that's the case, why are the forums any different? Someone rated your post "Boring"? Who the hell cares, it's their opinion. Someone commented on your post saying that you're stupid for having that opinion? Tough shit, because chances are that person has expressed an opinion that someone else had thought the same thing. Opinions, anything and everything said by someone is merely an opinion. It isn't a state of fact. The choice is yours to react to what someone says about you or what they say about your opinion. This is one of the many commonly misunderstood things that goes on in the online world. An opinion is not toxicity. Nor is it grounds for a punishment. If you see acts of verbal abuse between two people, would you label them as being "toxic" to each other? The answer is no. They're having conflicting interests and opinions. They are arguing. The appropriate course of action will be to address what the problem is and see if a solution can be worked out that will satisfy both ends. This is important. However, your over-the-top harassment is on a whole 'nother level. This is the kind of stuff that falls under the category of "toxicity". When one Member (or even a group) are maliciously and intentionally harassing several other people, then it becomes a problem. In this situation, it isn't a case of arguing, it's a case of "our group's beliefs are better than yours, and therefore you're wrong and are scum of the earth". This is where things get skewed around here. Things start to de-rail and the wrong values are then enforced. It becomes difficult to determine what side is right from wrong. When it gets to this point, it is almost too late to address the problem because it has so deeply rooted itself within the minds of few too many Members. Almost every problem that ever surfaces will have arisen from a conflict between two people. Remember when I mentioned the whole "conflicting interests and opinions"? This is what it stems from. If left untreated, it will grow like a cancer. Soon friends of Person A will back Person A's beliefs, then friends of Person B will back Person B's beliefs, or worse when a group will back one and no one is there to back the other. I'm going to wrap this up, because this is one long-arse looking post. All I'm getting at is that things aren't so black/white in terms of "toxicity". You can't expect to just throw down punishments for it and be done with it, that just simply won't work out. To finish up, I'm going to open the floor to any open criticisms at all within this thread. If there is any sort of problem/beef/hate that you would like to vent at all, let it out, and I guarantee and promise that I will not react hostile, I will respect your opinion, and maybe even consider changes within myself in reflection of it. I welcome any and all things @Tsuchikure ;) I would also like to make this thread one that anyone may feel free to express any opinion or criticism of anyone else who posts. Again, anyone who posts in this thread opens the door to possible criticisms (from others) and should expect it.With that said, do not post with the intention of verbally abusing or harassing someone, constructive criticism is the best kind of criticism. - Dat guy, Forest
