It's another case of common resources being privatized and then sold back to us just like so many things already have such as water, natural resources, land, historic and cultural sites, knowledge, or even things like peace & silence. I don't like it, but no, it's not going to be the end of the internet, and frankly, there's already a strong pushback against it. I'm all-in for joining the pushback personally, but I wouldn't worry to much about it. :P

I'm glad you brought this up Aegean, I've noticed that the community has been a lot more tense recently, even though I haven't been in any xG discord groups. I think part of the problem is a lack of clarity on what kind of respect is tolerated on xG, a lack of clarity between both staff and players. Furthermore, I think that jokes involving the illusion of disrespect have set a precedent that disrespect towards players & staff is simply turned a blind eye to. To me, it seems like racism is the biggest taboo, followed by disrespect centered around sex, sexual orientation, disability, and finally national origin (plus others I can't remember). I don't get why these are on a unspoken list of 'bad to not-as-bad", and even enforced by staff with warnings/punishments based on this list. Usually, insensitive jokes involving items lower on the list are allowed to pass, and I think this might be contributing to the issue. Now, I'm not saying every staff member does this, but I feel like I've noticed this mentality in xG over the past half-year I've been around. Currently, some of the rule lists state that racism specifically is disallowed. There's another which states racism and sexism are disallowed, and yet another which states disrespect in general is disallowed, and even goes into detail listing of some of the examples I mentioned earlier. I think the inconsistencies in the guides are causing confusion on what level of jokes involving the illusion of disrespect are allowed to pass. For example, imagine I've just joined one of xG's servers, and the first thing I hear over the mic is someone joking with their friend, saying something like "Girls can't play video games, they're too frail and delicate!". The players who are joking have known each other for years, the staff members online have also known them for years, and understand the satire in the joke. However, I would be under the impression that sexism is general is allowed on xG servers if I was new. You could always argue that I should read the !motd, but honestly, what percentage of players are actually going to bother reading the !motd? Especially if they're newer to the server and don't have anything to lose of they get banned anyways, so why should they waste their time reading the rules? Besides, like I said earlier, there is inconsistencies in the rule lists. I think it's kinda been a subconscious mentality, and frankly, I'm probably just overanalyzing the situation, but I wanted to share my genuine observations on this issue, and speculation as to what might be causing it. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

You have a few good points, but a few more dumb ones, and here's why. Yeah it actually is, Nigga is slang for Nigger, which is an offensive term which has been used to insult blacks every since America's slave days. There's a lot of weight carried in the word. Black friends who use it as a term of endearment do so because they have just as much love placed in their friends. There's a lot more to this, and I suggest you be careful of what you say before you know exactly what your saying entails. I find it disturbing that you say "Nigga is NOT an offensive slur" as an absolute statement. So "literally no one" is going to get offended by people insulting each other with racial slurs? Do you realize how contradictory you're being?! A breech of free speech because you can't use racial slurs while on xG servers? That's an exaggeration. No one cares if you call your friends Nigga, just keep it between you and your friends and don't take it to our public servers. Furthermore, unless YOU were using the term in an endearing way (which you weren't) on the servers, then your point is moot, as you had to be using it as a nickname for someone, or in an offensive way. Again, saying people who intend to create hate-seech simply use "Nigger" as opposed to "Nigga" is a moot point, because "Nigga" is short for "Nigger"! Eh, you bring up a good point here. But we can either promote and allow people to call each other whatever they want, or discourage the use of these words. We either give "words like this" no meaning due to overuse, and new curse words are created in their place, or we encourage players to respect each other. I think I'd chose the latter for the future of xG. I appreciate that you don't complain about every little thing which gets thrown your way, but honestly, the example you described is a lot closer to teasing then demeaning you by your race. In that case, would you like me to make a note saying to delete the FF2 weapon-ability guide? Personally, I think we should keep it, just update it with the new weapons/remove old ones. Here's my notes: I don't see what the size of this guide has to do with my suggestions, they wouldn't lengthen it at all. I only pointed out a rule inconsistency and mentioned that the list of allowed donator perks is missing a few & has a few old, discontinued ones on it? As for the donator perks (I assume you mean the ones listed as purchasable on the in-game hub), I did test them, but it WAS like a month ago, so they could've easily been fixed (either that, or it's just me who they're broken for) I'll remove that note from the list when I get back. These are just suggestions, the purpose of this thread is to provide a convenient list of suggestions for the staff whom are able to edit the website in order to update our guides. I do not suggest rule changes/edits. I only point out inconsistencies between the rule lists which may be confusing staff and players (and me!). They are listed in same the order they appear on the guides list page. A few things to clear up "making fun of people for their conditions, or words such as 'retarded' or 'autistic' should be added to the racial slur (or whatever we call it) whitelist?" 1) I mistakingly said whitelist, I meant blacklist 2) I mean just add it to the "do-not-say" list or whatever. NOT the racial slur list as they're not racial slurs :P Thanks to @Kypari for the info
