I remember when we had a steady TF2 Jailbreak population during European and American times. I played hours over hours with people like @Egossi and @Ghosty. Additionally @kbraszzz was DL. Good times! -
4 pointsClosing the thread now, as there no longer needs to be discussion. The month ban was insanely excessive, especially with no kick and also with a ban on brian without getting his side. His ban will stay to a day, will be discussed with the higherups but right now Silence and I both agree anything more than a day is excessive over something so small. We are not a clan based on censorship, and hopefully people's feelings can handle being called badmin. PLEASE use common sense when making bans, and try to give adequate warnings before bans unless it's hacking or mass freekilling (which we have other rules for) Ratings should not be considered personal attacks, as I was told in the past by the higher ups when I complained about it. That being said, if you're giving people FUCK OFF rating, you should not be complaining about it in the first place. We are NOT a safe space I will have huge discussions with our higher ups and then staff about what common sense means, and how we should try to be fair in all our bans, and try to understand that we should not strive for bans, but instead do our due diligence to get things resolved in a matter that everyone is happy. This is clearly a situation that has not met those standards. This fault also comes from myself for not being so involved with TF2, but I will be from now on.

3 points@Jacklyn Just wanted to touch up on the inconsistency matter from my point of view and why there isn't a simple "how-to" instruction for staff. Aside from me and other staff finding different things insulting to us or having different levels of leniency based on our own experiences, the other issue is that not everything is black and white when you're administrating servers. If someone says fuck you to an admin, and says fuck you to his friend, those are different issues that we can't just pin as "oh he said fuck you, that's an instant mute". Staff should be taking context when handling punishments, and if our rules tells you not to use racial slurs in our servers, and you choose to do so, there is no inconsistency if they choose to punish you for it, especially after you've been warned. There would be inconsistency if they didn't punish you, and then that means the staff who didn't punish you was more lenient, not that you weren't breaking rules in the first place. Police in real life are the exact same way, going 10 miles too fast by some cops might be an instant ticket whereas other cops might give you a warning. It also depends on your attitude of course, but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. At the end of the day, we want everyone to have an enjoyable experience, and if your enjoyment only comes from being able to use racial slurs on our servers or hearing it, this community is not that type of place.

Based on your previous posts, you didn't really investigate this entire situation. You don't really know the history of Brian and it sounds like you are just going based off of what other people are telling you. The way Brian was *insulting* you was agreeably childish, however, it should not warrant a ban. I mentioned the fact he was a good staff member because it implies he should have some slack cut for him. You know, the same slack rejects was cut for abusing his powers. At this point it seems like you can't handle being wrong. Since you have failed to read all of my short, but important, thread responses I'll have to reiterate this for you. When you base a ban on someone's prior bans, then the substance of those bans matter. Meaning, bogus bans should not be considered. The majority of his previous bans are permanent, and also bogus. If you're going to be a staff member and leave input on a ban appeal then you must put in careful scrutiny into your actions on the appeal. You have failed to do that. -

1 pointI'm the dispatcher working at the museum of aviation and space here selling tours on 1939/1940 biplanes, and also 1970 - 1979 cessna's. I take people's money, answer questions in person or phone, communicate with the official tourist organisers of my city for any VIP's who want to fly, and flight follow any flights I do while ensuring the passengers aren't too fat. It's my 4th year here, great job for the summer, but definitely looking forward to moving to cali next year working for my dad's friend's software company.

1 pointJust to make this less confusing, it's not going to have the map directly downloaded into the mod. You will have to explore the areas around the map to get information. Once you have traveled on said map, that data will be stored for when you come back on the server. You're right on it going to make things easier, but it will still not be so easy that everything is done for you.
-
1 pointI picked up elderly care during the summer to keep myself occupied and to make some money, and honestly, it's probably the best decision I've made this year. Basically, you help people to enable them to function as normally as possible. It ranges from really simple things such as helping them get up in the mornings, showering, toilet visits, to dressing wounds and administrating medicine. It's stressful at times as you do have a schedule to follow, but it varies from day to day. Overall, it's an incredibly eye opening experience that has made me grown a lot as a person and taught me to appreciate the smaller things we take for granted. If i recommend it? Lets just say I'm currently doubting if me majoring in computer science is the right choice for me. :p

At the end of the day, he didn't really do anything serious enough to get banned. He didn't target anyone specific and it wasn't a personal attack against anyone (no idea about the context of the whole situation but still). Honestly the ban should just be removed and we move on from this since I don't like the idea of people banning others simply for poking fun at xG. It makes us look like a community that wants to censor people which we shouldn't ever become. -
1 pointThat's fine with me, I'm fine with a ban to a day as he never got a kick warning. A month is excessive. I will also add a few more things here before this thread is closed.
-
1 pointIf you're going to bring up a persons ban history, then the content of the bans do matter. The *procedure* does not matter when almost all of the bans are bogus (hell, there are plenty of cases where your *procedure* is not even applicable). Feel free to try and figure it which of the bans are legitimate. Based off of your post and others, no one has actually investigated. It is very easy to sweep things under the rug when you don't particularly like a person, unfortunately that won't work.
-
1 pointI'd like to remind people not to resort to petty insulting and flaming or it's just going to make a bigger mess of things. Try to keep it civil please.

1 pointI'm gonna have to genuinely agree with this, like i stated in the private discord that some people reading this are on, i find it extremely unreasonable to not peruse warning a person when you know they may have not heard/seen it, it's essentially being banhappy and is poor staff behavior. Once there was a random guy who got on jailbreak and was mad about how worse he thought the jailbreak community had generally gotten. So he got on blue and mass freekilled, I warned him and everything then he asked me if i was an admin which i was at the time, and he was clearly waiting to be banned, but instead i started talking to him to ask why he was mad and he explained and i explained to him where he was right and where he was wrong. After the conversation ended he made a geniune apology and said i could ban him since he wasnt planning to join again. And that i think is how staff should try to handle situations rather than going "LOL he fucked up this time /ban @person 0 "toxicity, disrespect" cause otherwise you're being more counter-productive to the server generally than you are being productive. just for the simple fact that the communication in general with brian was poorly established, i will +1 this thread for either the duration of the ban being reduced to a reasonable amount, or it being removed entirely TL;DR - The situation was poorly handled, the length of the ban is unreasonably long

I honestly think banning him for having a name like that is a bit excessive. Sometimes people would rather be playing the game than be reading the chat so maybe he didn't see the warnings and had to be given a warning on the voice chat. Even if his ban was from 2 years ago I believe he doesn't deserve a month ban over a name. And about the situation where he was asking you guys to mute the kid, I'm just going to guess that he thought the ''immature voice on mic is not allowed'' rule was still a thing and was asking for the kid to be muted for that. If that were the case then you guys should have informed him that it was no longer a rule and that it was removed. -
1 pointI agree inconsistencies happen between staff members and how they enforce the rules, however, what I don't understand is how allowing people to disrespect and insult each other based on skin color, sex, sexual orientation, or disability will somehow open us to a wider audience. These are insults, meant to literally get people to fuck off, rather than stick around. Now, you have a point that everyone has their own thing which can be made fun of, and you can't watch everyone, even when they're attacking you personally. But we can still do our best to promote respect based around traits we all have in common, such as the one's I mentioned earlier.

0 pointsAlright so I feel as though I should re-instate my opinions from my last thread in a more intelligible way. My thread was kind of a stinkpiece I admit, I was a bit pissed off at the time. I didn't really expect to influence any sort of big changes but I was aiming to at least get some people to see it from my perspective. I wanted to voice my opinion on it even though I knew that I would get a lot of hate, and I did get a lot of hate, which is fair but I thought I would explain myself since a lot of people think I'm for what I said. This time I'm going to move away from if Nigga really is a slur or not because really, it's besides the point. My big problem is with Xenogamers outlawing slurs in general. The fact that people sometimes use slurs in general or good terms and not in a malicious way is completely ignored and it just seems unreasonable to me. People usually don't get offended at slurs if they're used in a general sense. Another thing is that it's really your choice at the end of the day to be offended by slurs or not. I don't think it's a very good idea to support people having thin skin because they can't handle hearing these words, you're just supporting weakness by doing this. People have said to me that it's because xG wants to reach out to a broader, wider audience but xG does not appeal to a wide audience at all in my opinion. xG is full of Pokefurs, Furries and every kind of weirdo in between and that scares away people on the get go by itself. And as I stated in my thread before, when you start banning words you just give them more power. It's feeding into people's sensitivities in an attempt to seem politically correct, which I don't understand because xG is just full to the brim with degenerates of all shapes and sizes who probably wouldn't give a damn about anybody saying any type of slurs. It's the admins who are making it a big deal and I don't even think most of them care much about it personally. Why would you even want to harbor anyone who gets offended by words like Nigga? My other point I was trying to make in my last thread was that the staff in xG is just downright inconsistent, and that was probably the most agreed on point so I'm just going to talk about it a little more. Here's a recent example of some very inconsistent moderating on xG: Awhile ago there was this guy on one of the TF2 servers who was trying to make trouble by loop-holing the rules on Slurs by making their name things like "Fellow African American" and etc and maybe I could have tolerated the Admin who was on ignoring it, but he was also spouting anti-semitic things like "The holocaust never happened" and "Hitler did nothing wrong" and he was going at it for a good ten to twenty minutes and the admin didn't even do anything about it. Even when I tried pointing them to the admin they just ignored it and didn't even issue any warnings to the specific person. It's not that I was offended by what they were saying but I felt like I was being cheated by the staff because this guy could get away with this scot-free but I got muted for 30 minutes for saying "I can't believe Nigga is still considered a slur here"? It seemed very unfair to me. There's inconsistencies in other rules too, it really just depends on what admin is on and what they think is bad to them. Like for instance, I used to use /bonkme -1 to do things like get out of taunts and I got away with it for a veeeeeery loooooong time without any admins saying anything about it until all of a sudden I was getting threatened to be banned for it by someone, Which just confused the fuck out of me because it was so normal to me that it had become habit. Another one is using putting teleporters in the skybox, it just depends what admin is on, some will tell you not to do it and some wont. I could probably go into more inconsistent rules but you get the point. Like I said, I don't expect this to change anything really because I already know most of you disagree with me on principle already and/or hate me for what I've said or done in the past but I really do evaluate what you guys say to me and I'm not planning on breaking the rules. Thanks.

0 pointsQuoting is being dumb so I'll just tag @Vexx think the point being made is that people should be punished based on protocol and the rules, and "staff said he was toxic" isn't an acceptable enough reason to punish somebody. It isn't "fair" per se. If he was breaking rules. The staff should have went through protocol. Basing a punishment off of actions you didn't see, when those actions didn't break rules/he wasn't punished when staff saw him. Isn't following protocol or fair. Staff should have made demos of him being toxic, word of mouth is too low a standard.

0 pointsLet's get this straight... The solution here for a ban appeal on someone with a very minimal ban history, and a rich history of being a great staff member is to week ban him for a name on a server. Not only that, his name wasn't even offensive, it was just Admins are Badmins. Are staff that fragile that a name criticizing you is warrant of a week ban? Ridiculous. The fact this needs a ban is childish, the fact @Vexx or @Kypari didn't investigate anything is ridiculous.

@ThunderLimes and myself have encountered this person on the server. Used the alias along the lines of "Muslim Rapist" and we had to kick him for the name, especially since it was offending a user since they are Muslim themselves. Though if you look at the ban history, it was probably necessary to do a day ban then: In total 4 bans, messy at that. The two bans that Floppy did are void since he was unbanned on both per moderator's request and invalid reason. @shwash apparently messed up somehow, which is unclear how. The valid ban is ChickenPanda for an hour. User is obviously toxic but I'm going to hold back my vouch as of now as I believe the person in question is registered on the forums, so I would like to hear their side.
