On "Invisible Promotions"
Precious and 3 others reacted to SegFault for a post in a topic
All though I am a higher-up, I feel/felt the same way. I was not the child of an invisible promo but I have never seen the issue with them unless the community as a whole is finding an issue with it. I think its kind of like a see-saw. The higher-ups make a call and the community checks it, or the community makes the call and the higher-ups check it. I trust the other higher-ups and I trust the community. But @Ms.Spooks has just as valid a point about favoritism. Ultimately - personally, I feel silent promotions are an issue, but only if you don't have faith in the higher-ups to make the right call. -

@Dannypicacho sorta brought it up when we had the 10 man composed solely of TF2 players, why not do the same sorta thing the other way around? a TF2 6v6 with only CS:GO players. to my knowledge this hasn't been done yet (unless I missed it in which case I'm gonna feel a bit foolish) and I feel like it would be as much of a success as the 10man, so lets try it out should this be in CS:GO discussion? -

We once did a TF2 6v6 after a CS:GO scrim and whilst there were mostly TF players, it was actually really fun. I would 100% recommend giving it a go and if you don't like it, then you know for if there's a next time ? no harm in trying it. We have a Stock Map Rotation Server which we could lock to 12 people and you could host it with captains like you do with CS, maybe? -
1 pointI was planning draw something for Halloween this year, but unfortunately, I hurted my arm by accident and I can't draw anything right now. So here you guys have an special made on Blender! Reiki+Gallantmon armor Made by me "BTW, I know that is not Halloween yet"

Tatost reacted to LAN_Megalodon for a post in a topic
Yeah there's actually not really a point to academy if you're going to have like teachers and whatnot. The only thing academy excels at is being very descriptive about what you have to do in the absence of players willing to explain it to you. Otherwise everything in academy is pretty much covered in jumps 1-10 of other, better, lower-tier maps. Danny made several statements about better players being bored on the map being the same as worse players being bored on a harder map, but this is not really comparable. A hypothetically worse player on a map that covers the same basic skills as academy in addition to more won't ever make it to the "more" part. If they make it to anything that academy doesn't cover, they'd have mastered the skills academy teaches. If they never make it to the additional parts of the map, they're struggling on the same stuff that would be on academy, there's just not a significant part of the server bored on a relatively short and easy jump map. Academy's very descriptive, but having something described to you doesn't mean you instantly master it mechanically. Forcing an entire server to sit on academy because a fraction of people really don't understand how to jump, (or more likely, some people got on the server and rtv'd before it was really populated) is comparable to going out to skate with all your friends but forcing them to all stand around your driveway while you try to master a kick-flip on your lawn. Sure, it might be a great way to learn how to kickflip, but it's not really an enjoyable or engaging experience for most of you. -

Don't get me wrong, I loved my time in CSS but I am enjoying my time in 2018 far more, more open, friendly, and just accepting. It feels more like a community than back in 2010-2013 -

Yes please. Only problem is that the CSGO community is too much of a bitch to do it. The TF2 players who never play CS:GO willingly played the CSGO 10man because it was fun and had to deal with us laughing at them, so why don't we repay them so they can watch us play and laugh at us? Stop being pussies and agree to play, it's a free game. I'd totally be up to play one and destroy @Jaydow -
1 pointI would never touch a game that has so many furries and weebs in one place.

1 pointI feel like even if community +/-1s on staff applications were taken into account on whether or not someone were to be accepted as a staff member (read: someone that got all -1s on an app was rejected whether the higher-ups wanted it or not), I would still be trusting of them to promote staff without the community's input. I trust Lithium (and bleed?*) to accept staff that will do good for the server, even if there is someone that disapproves of them being promoted. He's been around long enough that he knows whether or not someone will be a good staff member and actively improve the servers, or vice versa. *idk if bleed is still sectioned off into strictly CS promotions or not

1 pointYeah you're unbanned now, just don't do it again, or it'll probably be a true perm then etc etc. Also, try not to be so unnecessarily hostile towards danny (or anyone else, for that matter) like you did before you got banned, that kind of shit will probably get you banned again too (although not necessarily a perm). being honest about what he did in the first place isn't a bad thing

1 pointWhat if we wait until 1.14 comes out and wait for the modders to implement it so we have to wait even longer ?

1 pointI think you make a great point. I won't name anyone, but there has definitely been a few staff members in the history here that have been extremely questionable and with community input it is very likely that they wouldn't have gotten staff in the first place. A requirement to make a staff submission would ensure that the community has an input as well and would very likely result in us having the best staff roster to date. However, there are specific rules towards applying for staff which would result in there being fewer people available for staff. Here is the link to the staff submission guide: For one, it states you must be 14 or over to apply. There has been a staff member or two who at least got staff whilst being under 14. One I can name is @Segal. If you had to apply for staff rather than getting "invisibly promoted", Segal would've not gotten staff. Secondly, (this only applies for TF2) you must have at least 50 forum posts. I'm sure there have been MULTIPLE staff members in the past that have had pretty much one forum post when they got it, that post being their member submission. If these restrictions were altered, I think it would be fantastic to have a community input onto who gets staff. However, I feel as though the Division Leaders and Managers should still get final say as to whether the member gets staff or not, rather than a +1 and -1 system like we have with the member submissions. Remember guys, whilst saying your thoughts may or may not affect the overall outcome, there is no harm in getting a community input and should only aide the higherups in making their decision.

SyrixCoffeeWolf reacted to Krampus for a post in a topic
I don't think it'd really would change anything since like the whole decision is entirely up to the higher ups anyway, so if people are given an invisible promotion that most likely means the highers ups have gotten to know them very well and have asked people around in community what their thoughts on the person ( which I have seen before) and trust the person so much so that they believe they should be made staff, so it wouldn't really change anything if they made a submission thread or not. So as long as the highers up look into the person carefully before doing an invisible promotion, then it should be fine to stay as is imo. -

Easiest -1 of my life (x2) First of all, you weren't hyperscrolling, you were using scripts. Hyperscroll doesn't work according to @Lithium. And now you're admitting to using scripts. Something we all already knew. Second of all, you were insanely toxic that my -1 on you remains my #1 strongest -1. Lastly, you didn't even play properly. You constantly loopholed and freekilled and complained to admins and even spammed me in steam messages with slurs and more vulgar and vile language. I don't believe you've become a better person in that short time and my opinions towards you remain the same. -

1 pointPolitics is something that should be encouraged as healthy discussion and or debate. with that in mind however look at your audience and tell me honestly that there would be healthy discussion and or debate instead of "no you're fucking stupid you libtard cuck" "i bet you suck trumps dick too". While I am all for discussing politics in a proper way, I don't see that in really any gaming community save for oddly specific communities I used to play in. (=]H[= back in the Project Reality for BF2 Days where members had to be verified as 21 and above and go through heavy in game and ventrillo scrutiny is one that comes to mind) for proof why politics is not a thing that should ever happen in xG, read the above posts from brady frosty and lan

-1 points"this isn't a competitive server!!!! random crits should be allowed because I cannot kill people without them!!!" In all seriousness, random crits are absolutely retarded in an FPS. Skill-based critical hits (headshots) are fine since they don't make you think "I seriously shouldn't have been killed by that brainless ape of a heavy." Too bad TF2 is a really bad game in multiple ways, so we don't have critical hit headshots for all weapons like CS:GO or Overwatch do. ?

Academy is a terrible map on its own. Any jump map ever created glosses over the basics of rocket jumping (wall jumps, pogos, syncs, etc.), thus making the map entirely useless. Very few semi-competent rocket jumpers actually enjoy playing on Academy. Just a useless map that pretty much kills 40-50%+ of the population on any server you go to. There are plenty of 24/7 Academy servers, people can go there if they really think they can't learn how to rocket jump on tier 2+ maps. Teachers [will] exist for a reason - to teach. -
