10 pointsHey friends, I've been reading the posts that you all have been writing recently, whether it was people stepping down, planning events, making statements on xG in its current form etc. so I wanted to just give a few thoughts. Staff Stepping Down There are never enough to say about staff who took the time to volunteer so many hours to help out xG. It is a thankless job that helps keep xG as populated as it is, due to the efforts from all our staff, whether it is new mods, all the way to the community managers. People get stressed doing this, and stepping down makes total sense as people have their own lives to worry about. School, work, mental health, and anything in between is more important than xG, so if people need to step down for those reasons, we encourage it and we will always welcome back those people with open arms if they decide they can and want to help out again. Toxicity and Harassment As xG is a gaming community and the fact that we are not a private community, many different types of personalities with varying age ranges are all going to come and go. Disputes, problems, cliques, they are all bound to happen. It is also not only on staff but also members to hold each other accountable for how others are getting treated. Remember, we are all people in front of that screen at the end of the day, so please know that your words have weight behind them. If there are any issues that you don't feel comfortable discussing on the forums or with other members, you can always message me on discord privately and I'll always respond within 24 hours. Sometimes problems are just misunderstandings, but regardless I'm happy to take time out to resolve whatever problem you might have. People who intentionally try to get a rise out of others get little sympathy from me, but at the same time if you truly wish to improve or need a wake up call, I'm always here for that too. Planning Events You do NOT need to be a higher-up or even staff to organize an event. I just want to say thank you to everyone who tries to figure out fun things we can do as a community by posting threads and being active on discord. Aside from CS:GO 10 mans, it's been a lot of fun playing golf-it, skribble.io, and other games with the rest of ya and I can see that a lot of you have been enjoying it too. Respect to everyone honoring the golf-it shoe pics btw on discord. If you need any help organizing an event, feel free to reach out to me or any of the other higher-ups! Looking forward to all the new things we organize as a community. Moving Forward I'll be posting a thread soon about recapping what's been going on recently, and thoughts we have for 2019 in terms of divisions. It will also include getting your thoughts on what we should do, so we learn from the people who make our community so great, what they think we should implement. Thanks for reading everyone! Happy gaming, ~Aegean

Rising epidemic of harassment
SyrixCoffeeWolf and 2 others reacted to Tatost for a post in a topic
I think you misunderstand my motive here. I'm not in any way, shape or form condoning previous actions made by either Goldfish or Nep. I can understand where you're coming from, as I had to dig myself out of the hole I was digging for myself since my first demotion up until my apology thread. However, I am most definitely not condoning the actions that the members of our community are taking against these two (i.e. using their name as an insult, fat manning them out of ten mans, etc.). As members of the community, we should be the better person and at least attempt to reform them, not shut them out or harass them. Leave the past in the past, I know for a fact the people we as a community target can be good kids if you don't push them over the edge. This brings me back to the point that just because this is the internet does not mean you can say whatever you damn well please. Not to mention the fact that Goldfish himself has said that the constant harassment he's subjected to on the daily is the main reason that he acts the way he does. The video provided in the OP is a prime example of this ideology, the peers (the community) are at just as much fault as the accused (harassed person pushed over the edge). -

Rising epidemic of harassment
SyrJirk and one other reacted to Tatost for a post in a topic
Although harassment is not something unknown to the community prior to this post, I thought I would reflect on the state of the problem as it currently stands. This thread will make me seem even more like a high school counselor, which I really couldn't care less about. Harassment generally goes hand-in-hand with drama, which @Caleb956 explained perfectly in his recent thread. (See below) Quite recently I've seen certain players/members being harassed over complete bullshit. As someone who was previously kicked out of the community entirely, I find it infuriating that staff members haven't been cracking down on the people who do it on the daily. Some specific examples of harassment going on in both CS and TF2 would be the situations surrounding @DepressedNeonNepp and @Lottamos. People constantly throw their names around as insults or attempt to troll them to the point where they will get angry, leave the server/community for x amount of time. I won't call out specific names, but I've seen plenty of members and staff partaking in these sorts of activities. As I said previously, we're a gaming community, not an exclusive club. Make people feel welcome. Please stop trying to push people out of the community. You can never really get to know a person if you constantly harass them. For example, when people pick on Nep they portray him as this toxic little asshole when he really isn't. I've seen him a few times on the CS surf server (albeit he was under an alias at the time) and he was a genuinely enjoyable person. Now, I know school shooters are kind of a touchy subject on here, but I'd like to use a TEDx Talk to illustrate my point that being kind to someone can keep them from making bad decisions. If I cross some sort of line linking the video, I can understand and invite any forum staff to go ahead and cut out this section of my rant. Although I highly encourage everyone to both read the entirety of my post and watch the entire video, I'll insert a TL;DR. TL;DR - This community is plagued with members, staff and random players that can't seem to control themselves when it comes to harassing another person online. The argument that this is the internet and you shouldn't take anything seriously is complete horseshit, stop using it. Please be kind to other players instead of antagonizing them over nothing. Staff members need to start cracking down on this sort of behavior, be a part of the solution, not part of the problem. -

Rising epidemic of harassment
RazorScooter and one other reacted to Topaz for a post in a topic
Pretty accurate. I would also like to add that if you are feeling harassed or are otherwise in a bad spot then please do speak up and send someone who can help a message. Us staff are here to deal with that, among other things, and if one of us is not listening/taking it seriously, chances are another will. Of course, I do want to add that when people dogpile onto someone, like in the case with @Lottamos/Goldfish, it can definitely appear like harassment. But it is also important to read into the content of these cases. A lot of time there is genuine criticism, and that should not be ignored. That being said I will not deny that some people take it too far and bully/harass him. I am not defending his behavior, but holy shit, that is hypocritical as hell considering that level of toxicity is pretty much why he was banned in the first place. To close, just treat people like people. You don't need to kiss anyone's ass, but just act respectfully you bunch of degenerates. -

The staff requirements are too much
Caleb956 and one other reacted to Semper for a post in a topic
I was staff for a month or so and had no problem finding time in my day to join the server and just chill for a hour or two. while I was dislocated from home because of a house fire and staying with family. If I can do that, anyone certainly can, I also take care of my grandmother who had cancer and has to use a cpap machine to breath at night, and just alot more other life stuff, If you can't put in the time and effort you're just lazy, 14 hours in 2 weeks is baby stuff, I used to put 200 hours biweekly into source when i was like 14, people have lives too, and we have to acknowledge all that Kypari, Nutty and Caleb have done and how Long they have been here and how much of their time and lives they have sacrificed to make the tf2 div what it is now, can you blame them? sometimes people need a break from it after doing it for so long. the more I read this thread, the more it seems like a Joke. Maybe we could bring paid Moderators back. -

1 pointTo add to the unique case but about the other example who is also given numerous chances to adjust attitude. When someone posted a meme in discord without even mentioning him, he reacted with a response of "stop fucking making fun of me it's obnoxious" and as a joke I just copy pasted the meme, which was the first time I saw it in discord ever and last I saw mention of this was when he himself posted it on forums months ago, his immediate response to me was "get over it and leave me alone you fucking cunt". relatively unprovoked posting a meme for that kind of a response and when I switched immediately over to a serious mode of chatting and explaining that his response is not OK and against our rules continued to lash out. Ye who are of the talk in this know who you are and I personally feel as though you ignored everything I tried to guide you with, and unfortunately with that behavior and responses it doesn't do anything to help change your perception or appearance. I fully support not harassing individuals or groups in the community, but don't bandwagon on a thread thinking that means that your behavior is acceptable or tolerated and that it will immediately change the communities view of you, like I said at the time of this incident, changing perception takes time and work. If someone was to post a meme and you react with a response like that then what have you honestly done about your attitude? In short, I agree with rabid and bonk, about not harassing but keep it real here and look at the examples provided of individuals who you can do nothing but talk to in a calm professional way and their responses are yelling and using uncalled for foul language/insults.

1 pointConsidering you've tried to pretend you've been banned longer than you have after the ban was already posted in the thread and ignored the main reason for the ban (massing), I'm gonna give this one a no. Feel free to make a new protest after another month or so (that's a 30 day month btw), or do one of the unban challenges in this thread.

I stopped taking it seriously when you defended this. I'm sorry but there is a reason he is not liked and its a damn good one, when you dig your grave you better try damn fucking hard like I did to undig it to be liked by many, Have not even seen a single attempt for him to make him self liked. I understand the point of your post but you really need to use better examples if you're going to use examples. I for one understand having levels to toxicity, and if people exceed it staff should not bat eyes to people they like. -

1 pointwhile I can see why you would write this, I am going to throw my own side down. People leave step down from staff not because of requirements, but because the game isn't fun or its for their own good. @Kypari originally stepped down for his own health @mrnutty12 stepped down because hes clocked in over 10k hours so yeah, the game would get boring for him @Caleb956 stepped down earlier because it wasn't fun Point is, everybody has their own reason for leaving. Also before it was 14 hours, it was something along the lines of 30 hours every 2 weeks or something crazy so lowering it for 14 to something else would be a poor idea as the staff would think that they aren't needed and will only go for the minimum requirements, leaving basically no staff on the servers when needed. I understand you said this, but staff are volunteers and have their own lives. So if the requirement were to be lowered, it would probably in turn lower the amount of staff available at one time as they would make plans for their own life. That is just my own take on the subject. I'm not saying I'm right in anyway, just my viewpoint.

SyrixCoffeeWolf reacted to jaygoki for a post in a topic
People just don't care about the effect their words are going to have on someone else. Even myself, little things that people say that really shouldn't mean much get to me and can really sour my mood. Whether it's Goldfish or just a random on the server, anytime someone is taking it too far I shut it down as fast as I can because I know how damaging it can be for people to just constantly harass you. This is especially true for people that do it because they think being mean to someone is cool or will make other people like them. Now, this isn't to say that you should be taking a little bit of trash talk or banter as harassment. That will always be a part of the game. It's harassment when they're personally targeting and insulting you - that is the problem. Think about what you say before you say it. There's a reason that the saying "treat others the way you want to be treated" is thrown around so much. -

Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 17, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because this thread gave me cancer anyway. +1

Hi it is me, mrnutty12, and I'm finally stepping down. I have never really liked long winded blocks of text because they bore me to death, so I won't subject you guys to one listing off every little insignificant detail as to why I am stepping down. Suffice it to say I have neither the motivation nor the interest that I used to have for leading the tf2 division, especially not what I would personally consider acceptable from myself. (eg 10k+ hours in a game kinda makes it feel a bit stale yadda yadda not really a shocker there) I'll still pop in on the servers now and again when I feel like it, I am just done with higherup business and being staff in general. And a few personal notes... (sorry if I miss you but I am not going through every person I know to write something for) @PichuBoi @Kypari I can't apologize enough for some of the things I have said to you. @SegFault I probably won't delete my files and stuff so if you need to find them and I didn't leave such in the appropriate places feel free to ask @Tekk helo tekage @Caleb956 sand. @Dannypicacho A jug is superior to the bag and you should learn how to shotgun. @DiaperHyperWolf Awoo @Precious Also awoo @Semper @virr 01010100 01101000 01100001 01101110 01101011 01110011 00100000 01100110 01101111 01110010 00100000 01100010 01100101 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 01110010 01100101 00100000 01100110 01101111 01110010 00100000 01110101 01110011 00100000 01110100 01100110 00110010 00100000 01110000 01100101 01101111 01110000 01101100 01100101 00101110 @Lithium Thanks for the help when we were being dinguses with code and such. -
