Not really sure what happened but there was a fight or something in an apartment in my building and the cops were called.

 

I left to go to the bank and the front door was propped open, which is against our lease agreement, and there's also a sign on the door that "This door must remain closed at all times for the safety and security of all tenants"

 

When I left, I closed the door. The police officer came out of the building right after me and asked why I closed the, my response was simple, because it's not supposed to be propped open.

 

The officer explained that it was left open for her convenience. I asked if there was another unit coming, her reply was no. I asked if her partner was in the building, she said yes.

 

"So if you're both in the building, and no one else is coming, why do you need to leave the door open?"

 

After being stunned for a moment she asked for my ID and went to her car. She came back with a ticket for "Interfering with a police investigation"

 

This should be a fun day in court.

Well technically Mcneo you shouldn't be instigating certain situations if you know what I mean. For example when you furthered the conversation by saying "So if you're both in the building, and no one else is coming, why do you need to leave the door open". That kind of gives more of a attitude towards the police officer, which in turn gets you the ticket. So instead of that you could of just said, "Okay I'm sorry for closing it, please continue with what you were doing". Or something like that. The owner of the apartments would not been mad because in that situation police officer was handling something. Reason why she probably left the door open could be to escort the criminal easier without having to budge the door open. Either way, Good luck in court mate, and you should definitely be able to overcome. This is just for future references.

First amendment bro. I have the right to call the cop a cock sucking shit eating fat ass jew hating nigger faggot and they can't do anything about it.

 

And even if they were expecting more people, they don't have the right to leave an entire building insecure. Not only that, but it's also a fire hazard, it's an external door in a stairwell that needs to be closed to prevent oxygen from fueling a potential fire. On top of that, if I didn't close the door, I could have been evicted for breaking my lease - since I was the last one through the door it's my responsibility to close it.

 

I'll win in court, no question there.
